Depends if your favourite is the one you liked most, the one who made you laugh most or the one who did best in the most challenging environment and how you weight those factors - is BB a talent show or a challenge? Brian would obviously win a champion v champion competition as he spent 23/24 hours a day being funny or trying to be -he could have won BB2 on day 2 without bothering to do the 9 weeks though because he turned the show into the Brian comedy show . I suppose the wider point is that each BB winner was the result of their shows - Brian survived because he was not in BB3 or 4 and because he lived in a happy environment created for him by Elizabeth and Dean. Put Brian in BB3 or 4 and I suspect he would have walked because people would have tried to shut him up. Put any of the potential winners from BB3 in BB4 and watch the housemates try and get rid of them.

My Fav winner was Kate. (although she isnt my fav hm by a long way, but I did prefer her to Craig, Brian or Cameron.)
However, my two fav all time BB hm's are John Tickle and Jade. |

[quote=thenetworkbabe]I can't see any case for Alex being edited out. Alex stayed on because of a very dubious vote against Allison and because he was spun as an annoying but funny character against Spencer who was spun as annoying and boorish. After that Alex shot himself in the head. His treatment of Kate was picked up by the psychologists who related it to an inflated sense of self worth, a feeling of being jilted and spite. He then spent the last 3 weeks complaining he didn't want to be on the show, he criticised others for playing to the camera and then stood behind a door miming to the camera for his best moment and he kept on saying he only liked Adele and Tim - the two most disliked characters in UK BB history......../QUOTE]
OK, lets deal with this. There's ample evidence of Endemol/BB4 influencing against Alex but let's concentrate on one fairly crucial bit. The psychologists take on him. There was the famous "smile" the psychologist spotted very early in the show when Kate stormed off after their tiff about throwing oranges around. This, if I recall right, was interpreted as his being pleased at splitting her up from Spencer - identified as the major purpose of the row. Flick forward a few weeks to Tim's eviction. (And you're right that Alex stood by Adelle and Tim when the friendships were clearly doing him no good at all amongst the wider audience - but that's the sort of bloke he is. ) As Tim leaves the house to a jeering mob, Alex turning from the camera gives the same ironic smile. There's no way whatsoever that is a smile of pleasure. Alex is visibly horrified and extremely upset by Tim's reception. He sees it as a clear indication of what he can expect himself when he leaves the house, and he's understandably petrified - as all the final 4 were at that stage about the prospect of being booed and vilified. The correct explanation, of course, is that the original psychologist was talking cobblers. The only one who got it right about Alex throughout BB3 was towards the end when one of them belatedly admitted "Alex is so eccentric that I really have no idea what he's thinking or what he will do." It didn't stop them putting the worst possible construction on his behaviour earlier in the show though and affecting the audience's early impressions of him. Oh, and by the way, Alison was voted out first because she's an annoying ugly cow. It's probably the first time in her life she's been told it so clearly - but that doesn't mean people don't think it all the time. Last edited by darling : 03-04-2004 at 18:07. |

It always astonishes me when people question the reasons why Alison was voted out. Her frenetic mugging and constant breakage of furniture were the only aspects that she ever showed to "reccomend" her in the house. It was hardly a surprise that she went. Even her "friends" in the house did not miss her, as evidenced when Kate could not even remember her name, latterly.

was a godsend, but Elizabeth was a complete nightmare! Have you forgotten her saying that if he hadn't been such a good friend of Dean's she would have nominated him every week? For me, Brian was the winner for all of the reasons you mention above. I liked him the most, he made me laugh the most, and he certainly did the best in the most challenging environment. There were a couple of people who were only too ready to bring him down at every opportunity, (not that he was a "victim" in any way! He showed great strength of character a lot of the time) and he put up with a hell of a lot that never made it to the Channel 4 shows. I don't want to go through it all as it's pointless (and boring!) to dredge the same old stuff up again after all this time, besides which my memories are fading somewhat after almost three years! All I know is no one on TV has ever made such a huge impression on me, and it was so much more than just his humour that got me hooked! So basically, I'll stop rambling now and just say ...... Absolutely Brian for me too!
