LCD TV requires Re-Boot?

Was watching Hockey recorded on my Sky+ box from ESPNHD until the picture went black on my Toshiba Regza. I thought it was my Sky+ HD box as its prone to crashing. Every now and again the screen would go fuzzy then back to black. So powered the Sky Box and still no joy, tried the scart setting and it was working, then unplugged HDMI from connection 1 to 3 (2 occupied by Xbox) and HDMI 3 was fine. So plugged back into HDMI 1 and still no picture. I thought the HDMI socket was blown but tried powering down my tv for a few seconds. Now since its back on HDMI 1 is working again.

I was wondering with TV's now having some software is it possible that this was a system crash rather than hardware failure?
