Well I think the point is, the X Factor took over a Christmas tradition and presumed that it would automatically get Christmas number 1 year after year. Sure, it wasn't a pretty tradition and sometimes (ok most of the time) the songs were hideous novelty songs, but there was something enjoyable about it really, and that was stolen away by Cowell and his 4 month extravaganza to the top of the chart... People did get very bored of them stealing away a fun tradition and at least this song brought it back.

Exactly!! 'F*** you, I won't do what you tell me' - apart from buying a single for the sole purpose of beating the X Factor - which they all did! Fail against the machine

My problem is is that this doesn't help music in the long run. Oh so he was stopped for 'one' week. You think Simon's music domination isn't going to get smaller or something. Britains got talent for the other half of the year.

Well it would have been a pretty shit campaign if everyone pissed off and bought random songs. The only way you're going to topple the X Factor is to come together, pick ONE song and help each other. In fact, nothing in life works if everyone just ****s off and does whatever they please to beat a massive corporate giant.

It doesn't matter at this point - the point people wanted to make was made last week.

Steve Brookstein got to number 2 when he first released his single, then it rose to number 1 the following week.
I am hoping for Joe's sake he doesn't follow the same pattern as Steve. Look what happened to him However well done to Joe if he does get the number 1. I did not think anyone could stop Cheryl Cole. |

it was about beating the X Factor winner to christmas Number One and break the chain,no more no less, the point was proven
![]() If the aim of the objective was to keep Joe Mcel- whatever off top spot then that's failed, if it was to send a message to Mr Cowell well that didn't really work because I'm sure he'll get number one and the sales he desired in the next few weeks. |

Well that is a bit pointless, it's just saying to the X-factor mob that we have power for a week! Then it's all yours, a bit like our criminal justice system, a crook gets three years but serves 3 months. So in the end it was just a hollow victory, don't get me wrong I hate the X-factor but this campaign on the face of it is a bit weak willied if it only manages to keep Cowell at bay for one week!

I don't like the song personally but I was getting fed up with a X Factor song being number 1 every year. It just takes the sparkle out of things. The videos are exactly the same every year, just Cowell's mugshot just appears in the video more as each year goes by. I would rather the X Factor song be released a week before Christmas so that it could have a fair contest between securing its place to a newcomer battling for the Christmas Number 1. |

What is so ridiculous about this campaign is that Christmas wasn't actually going to be on 25 December. The early Christians originally plumped for early Spring but with the pagans have a festival in December they decided that it would be best to try and get one over them and they took it over. Anyway the Gregorian calendar made everything out of kilter and Denys Exiguus who sorted out the calendar in the first place decided that he wanted the first day of the year on 1 January. It could have been any day!

That's pretty impressive, the campaign is over, the hype has gone, and yet it's still sold 40k and is in 2nd place.
Go RATM

No the objective was to keep The X Factor winner off the Christmas Number One,thus saying to Mr Cowell that the Christmas Number One isnt his to promise to the winner

I don't really think Cowell cares about the Christmas number 1. He's about the money he's a smart man, he'll probably throw a curve ball next year by changing the week in which the x-factor single is released.
