Cheapest 14/15" LCD TV YOU CAN FIND...?
Ok - in a nutshell I need a dirt cheap LCD tv for our kids playroom.
Having cleaned out all our old electronic stuff, I found a working DVD player and 14" CRT portable - both of which are working fine. Except the tv is giving of a bit of a dusty smell and definitely on its last legs. The TV will only be used with the DVD as I don't have any aerial socket and my reception is poor for plug-in aerials. So don't need it to be freeview or built in dvd. Can anyone recommend the cheapest LCD tv possible. Ideally a 14" or 15" that is wall mountable to save space, and we can just use our existing and still very solid Toshiba 210. I've looked on ebay and there's a few Wharfedales, Bebo's and Matsui. Anyone used any of these and can say they're good value? I don't want to pay £75 if it ends up not working in January. Maximum budget is £100. And that's including delivery. I know i'm tight -but its for the kids, and they don't care about the best possible picture. As a side note - it will also probably be used with our old PS2 which I also dug out and wiped away the dust from. Thanks |

Thanks Why not look for a CRT - e.g. a 14" with DVD is only £80 brand new with a year warranty...... http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5293111/c_1/1|category_root|Home+entertainment+and+sat+nav|14419512/c_2/3|15701169|Televisions|14419667/c_3/4|cat_14419667|Traditional+TVs+and+TV+combis|14419680.htm Personally, I'd avoid buying a cheap LCD off e-Bay, given that for a similar price you can buy a brand new one with peace of mind that if there's a problem you can take it back where you bought it from. A brand new 16" LCD is only £ 100 after all. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5294811/c_1/1|category_root|Home+entertainment+and+sat+nav|14419512/c_2/3|15701169|Televisions|14419667/c_3/4|cat_14419667|14+inch+to+24+inch+LCD+TVs|14419670.htm |

We've currently got a 14" CRT and its too bulky, ideal scenario is to get a cheap 15" and fit it to the wall. Wharfedale being sold on ebay for c£70-80 and its a better make and quality than the Alba one you mentioned. Buying off ebay means you still get the manufacture warranty.

Wharfedale will have exactly the same innards as an Alba - I guarantee it. I don't think the guarantee thing will be easy to execute either.

OR..... If you can stretch to a tenner over budget............http://www.ebuyer.com/product/173592 I don't normally advocate built in DVD players.... but you get a 3 year guarantee, so might be worth thinking about? |

Thanks for this - I think i'll wait for the CRT to completely crash and then pick up one in the Jan sales from one of the leading Electrical suppliers or Supermarkets. My mum picked up a 15" lcd for under £40 last year with a full 1 yr guarantee. It was like a Funari or something - but picture quality is nice.

we are looking for a similar sized tv for our kitchen... as our old crt broke, and it took up too much of the work surface anyway. The cheaper the better really... for that price, I wouldnt mind if it was funari or whatever! |
