I don't know. I found IIWAB, Halo, BHG and alot of the album tracks full of emotion. It's evident in her live performances of those songs that they mean alot to her.
She didn't write those songs. Yes she conveyed emotion while performing them but that's not what i mean by when i said adding a personal touch to her albums and evolving as an artist and having more input on the songs. Her creativity only seems to come from the choreography side..

And about Britney - she is just manufactured to the core - like a corspe forced on stage to perform. I wouldn't compare Britney and Beyonce together as artists!

So looking at all the facts, these 3 artists seem to be on par with each other, with JT only slightly ahead. So again, the article has no legs...
Exactly, and the article is asking, why does Beyonce work 3/4 times harder to be on par (or only slightly ahead) of artists like Pink, Britney, JT, and Christina...they don't work nearly as hard promoting themselves or their music etc and yet they still easily keep up with Beyonce!!!

You are a Christina stan so i expect the bashing from you anyway. It's not Beyonce's problem if your beloved artist doesn't give you or her fans what you want.

Saying that Beyonce's songs are only for hits is stupid. I have never connceted with Christina's songs but that doesn't give me the right to knock her down because she didn't give me songs that connected with me because there are other people that connect with her music.

Beyonce released quality songs that tells a story, Me Myself and I, Dangerously in Love, Halo, Broken Hearted Girl, Flaws and All, Smash into you, Disappear, Satellite, That's why you are beautiful, Scared of Lonely, If I were a Boy and the list goes on.

You will never connect with Beyonce's song because she's taking the limelight from everyone including Christina.

I'm not a deluded fan of christina. Beyonce is way more relevant than Christina atm, that's for sure. But doesn't stop me from giving my viewpoint of what i think of Bey's music.
Since DIL [which was amazing] she hasn't evolved musically i think that's fair to say. To me her songs don't have her stamp on it apart from her choreography. I feel like all the songs so far she has released since DIL, any other R'n'b artist could have sung it. I disregarded B-day cos clearly the album was done in short space of time only memorable song from that album is Irreplaceable and i expected IASF to wow but it hasn't.

Since DIL, Listen and Broken Hearted girl have won my over. Oh and get me bodied ^^

No need to be so rude to Lucky for giving her point of view. This one of the things which irrates me with some Bey fans they are so uptight when you don't buy into the ''legend'' that is Beyonce. I think shes overrated - is that a problem.

IMO, Beyonce best album was B'Day. But other than that I dont see why she is raved about so much. Crazy In Love is a medicore song at best - not the best song of the decade NME I could name tons better than CIL.

I don't see her exprimenting or making bold moves in her music. I think half the time she's played it safe and I think what would give her a wider appeal is if the did do this instead of same ''Beyonce to releate to women with man problems to ghetto gurl Bey music.

I think that the ballads were a complete let down on IASF, she had a few good uptempos Sweet Dreams, and Radio (which IMO, should have been released instead of BHG a bland pop song with not much substance). However I don't think the ghetto gurl thing suits Bey at all etc Diva didn't do too well in the charts.

I don't deny Bey talent but I hate to fact people rave on about her like you MUST like her - I respect her but her most of her music isn't to my taste.

BTW, Bey doesn't take all the limelight completely. Lady GaGa has already proven herself talented in vocal, songwriting, imagery, and music areas with her ability make music which is vertistile and change up her image (I know not the first time, but still) as well as writing clever catchy pop songs. If you've ever seen a performance of songs on her tour such as Future Love on YT it shows how great she is. Not to everyone's taste, but she certaintly has a fan here.

While Rihanna isn't a strong vocalist like Bey or GaGa, she has distinctive vocals and Rated R is huge risk taking album, which represents the versistility I think Bey should do. Not the genre necessarily but the big step.

At the end of the day her fans like what she releases and that's what matters. IASF is selling hot numbers until now so she must be doing something right.

As long as she's selling and touring then she is on the right path.

People say Beyonce hasn't experimented!!!!! B'Day was a totally different sound.

She went Vocally challenging big production, a lot of bass and that's why there was Deja vu, Green Light, Freakdum Dress, Suga Mama, a totally different sound to R'n'B.

Keep doing you Beyonce

Beyonce likes to work... Nothing wrong with that. That's what makes her a great role model... A hard working married lady who does everything in her power to give perfection- or her idea of perfection in her art. I don't get how she working hard is a bad thing... She clearly likes it.

The same goes with Lady Gaga.

By the by, Pink does work incredibly hard, have you not seen her current tour... Core blimey. And when Christina comes out with an album she works in incredibly hard as well.... Britney... Well... erm.... She looks pretty.

I think she has one of the greatest voices ever but the vast majority of her songs are poor (imo that is). If she had songs I liked and sung about a wider range of stuff I would probably buy her albums.

Vocally she is amazing.

Although I found the article a bit insulting to the other artists by the constant stating about "working 3 times harder", the writer over-states it (why 3 and why say it so much, we got it the first time?), it's probably not that much and how do they know how hard the other artists have worked? Just because they are out of the public eye for a while does not mean they are not working hard. I imagine everyone at the top of the industry has to work really hard regardless.

There's nothing wrong with working hard, I don't see that as the problem at all or even what I think the article is addressing. Its the fact that all the hard work doesn't seem to have as much pay off as the work her contempories get.

Beyonce works incredibly hard and she's always around doing something (nothing wrong with that) but she's painted as a 'legend in waiting' and we're lead to believe she's head and shoulders above everyone right now...but when you look at the figures she's only slightly ahead of her contempories, despite the fact that she's doing far more than them to promote herself and her products.

Well if you are accusing Lucy of being a Christina stan then you are a bigger Beyonce stan.

Those songs you mentioned, how many of those did Beyonce write herself? An no, do not include songs that she has co written with like 4 writers.

Beyonce relies on hits. Her album has no concept or originality. She is staying big because she is releasing songs that fit into the current boring r'n'b/dance sound.

I cannot see 95% of her songs or album being revered in over 30 years time like we have seen from great artists in the past.

Beyonce is a good singer and a good live performer. Her dancing isn't great to me. If shaking your bum and showing off your body sexually is called dancing, then what has happened to the standard?? Her new song 'Video Phone' sums it all up for me - the song and the video is awful!

And yes, she needs to take a couple of years of, re-invent her music and come back sounding fresh - if that is possible.

I'm not a fan of Beyonce but she's a good performer, I'll give her that. And Pink is awesome, she works her butt off!

I don't like Beyoncé that much. I see the attraction but don't get what's so amazing about her dancing that merits her so much attention. Her videos aren't amazing. She's an amazing singer and has hit songs, albeit I don't like them much. I also tend to shy from her approach that she is queen of the music industry and her husband Jay-Z is King - so her image does nothing for me.

I like Lady GaGa, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake - I just think they have better songs, dance better and their image is more soft (disney-like even). Artists like Beyoncé, Britney are all about image, dance, energy, experience etc... for me. If I wanted emotion there are so many artists who concentrate on that and who do it better - even Jay Z does it better.

She also seems in it for the money, like that las vegas tour she's going to do for a lot of money - I don't expect that from Beyoncé, but someone like Rihanna or Britney.

But forget that my top played 5 are Lady GaGa, Justin Timberlake, Coldplay, this Japanese band and N Sync .

That list is so inaccurate...Britney has done 97 dates on her tour but that list only has her down for 70...for other artists on that list they've made mistakes too!!!

Agree.

But as a Beyonce fan, wouldn't you like to see her take a couple years off, write her own material and take a new direction with her music? She has made a lot of money, won many awards, toured the world over.

For example, back in the 80's - Madonna was releasing an album after every 2 years whereas Michael Jackson took around 4 years off, spent a lot time on his album and built up HUGE anticipation with a different image, look & sound. The wait between Thriller and Bad was 5 years. In that time Madonna released 3 albums and didn't achieve half the success and sales of Bad & Thriller.
We are seeing the same thing now with Beyonce releasing one album after another whereas JT and Christina are taking time off, and building up excitement for their fans and general music fans who are eager to hear what they have done.

Anyway, i've always wished Beyonce success. She seems like a lovely, genuine woman.

Madonna released Like a Virgin and True Blue in that time two of her best and biggest selling albums

She followed that up with Like a Prayer

No one can match the consistent success Madonna has had created over her career because its so difficult to keep people interested over 25 years

That is exactly what the article is saying though!

They are of equal or potentially slightly higher levels of success as Beyonce, yet she works a lot harder.

If anything the article is saying she deserves more success, which I would agree with, you seem to just be arguing with yourself having misunderstood the article.

The article doesn't seem to be attacking her, saying she's crap, saying she doesn't deserve success or anything the way you seem to be arguing against, it's simply saying Look how much more work Beyoncé does than her peers, yet somehow she isn't getting higher payoff for her hard work, why is that?

Where does it say that? It's merely addressing the indifference that is happening, there is no attack of Beyonce in that article.

I think Beyonce likes working hard. Like with the B'Day album where she re-released it and had music video's for every song nobody expected that, nobody would have minded if she didn't do she could have simply not done it but she did.

I do Love Beyonce but I agree with the poster that said that she hasn't actually evolved, IASF could have been a million times better.

I think B'Day was actually better than IASF. (which btw I hate tthe title of)

Now i can really see where you are coming from and could actually have a good discussion because you are not downing Beyonce or the people that like her. My only issue with some people is when they criticise her song choices or saying they don't have a substance and that she should do this and that as if she is not selling or touring!!!!!!!

I honestly think the time between each album is nonesense. If you release an album and it's good enough then why not release it the year after if you want. If it sells then it's the right decision.

People tend to put so much on the time between albums. Aretha Franklin has around 35 albums. She used to release them one after another but no one said anything.

I would like Beyonce to not release an album every year. An album every two or three years is good for me and that's what she's doing. A lot of my friends are fans of Christina and Justin and they say that the two are taking far too long.

Take care hun and Merry Christmas x
