More people jumping on a bandwagon aiming for nowhere I see. 8,000 members and The Sun have reported it as news? Must be a slow day for them.

What is classified as bandwagon jumping these days?

Arnt people allowed to attract new fans anymore?

At least this group hasn't targeted next Christmas though and they've put a little thought into the song choice.

There seems to be new groups cropping up every minute on Facebook. Normally ones that lazily want Metallica, Iron Maiden or another metal group at number one next Christmas.

People have seen how successful the Rage one was and heard, read and seen the Morters in various media that they see the chance to become minor celebrities out of it. I'd rather the Rage one was a one-off, I don't want it to become a annual event and anyway I doubt it would work again 'cos rather than have everyone buy one song we'd have several songs scattered around the Top 40.

If it were an annual event, it would bejust as tedious as having X-Factor as Christmas No.1!

If its an annual event then I wouldnt mind as long as the song was different every time.

Hold on, so are we starting to get campaigns for several different songs for number one at Christmas. Several tracks fighting for the number one slot?

Is it getting back like it used to be?

Fixed

Edit: Until they can paraphrase the same headline about Tiger Woods for a whole week!

Who actually gives a shite what the Sun says?

I love the Pistols but I'm not going to join a shitty campaign, if people want to buy a record then they shouldn't need a campaign to do so. Are people really that brain dead? Do something because you want to, not because somebody tells you to. These people are worse than Cowell and the people who support it are sheep.

You see, this is where it's all starting to miss the point for me.

The Rage Against The Machine campaign had a point to make and seemed to be about opening the charts up again at a time of year that had, in recent years, become completely predictable.

However. If the Facebook group starts 'campaigns' for stuff like this it looks increasingly like a rather unhinged bloke trying to 'control the charts'. Wasn't the original campaign about the exact opposite of control?

Jon Morter is currently 'in' his fifteen minutes and has a high profile and a lot of people listening to what he says. If he really wants to take on a big one, and he's genuinely interested in music over and above his own celebrity, why not start going after the retailers and distributors who restrict music purchasing choice in the UK?

Jon Morter doesn't appear to have anything to do with the Sex Pistols group, other than somebody's nicked his idea.

Video explaining why they're doing it, and John Lydon gives his nod of the head as it will help him finance a new PiL record.

It won't work for two reasons:

1. These sort of campaigns only work once. The Law of Diminising Returns

2. The republicans I know quite like the Queen. They think she's an all round decent person. It's the institution they dislike, not her.

Listen to what Lydon says in the video, he explains what you just said and what the song means.

No it didnt, and no it wasnt. It was nothing more than people wetting themselves in anticipation of getting a song other than the X-Factor single to christmas number one because they felt it would piss off Simon Cowell.

He of course couldnt care about this empty achievment in the slightest, all it did was increase the eventual sales of the X-Factor single and give next years X-Factor single, a built in marketing push in an attempt to "regain" christmas number one.

And people spent money on this ridiculous exercise.
