Well the Pet Shop Boys put out a new Christmas song this year it didn't do well though. Barely scraped into the top 40!

George michael had a new Christmas song out. It was actually first released as a download last year but its still a new christmas song. And remember The darkness from 2003 as well. That was the last new Christmas song that came nearest to getting Christmas number one.

There's a few every year, Bob Dylan's Christmas album comes to mind, love Wogan/and Aled Jones doing Silver Bells and Andrea Borcelli and Muppets doing Jingle Bells

All covers this year I believe the Julian Casablancas track is an original

Glasvegas have released one this year. - A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like a Kiss)

It's quite good

The last, really, well known is probably Destiny's Child's 8 Days of Christmas or Cheeky Girls' Have a Cheeky Christmas

I reckon if Gaga wrote one for next year it'd top the charts and I reckon she could do something pretty good.

Is it because new songs don't get so much TV exposure now? When I was growing up, we had the Top of the Pops Christmas Special - there's nothing like it on now.

Gabreilla Cilmi "Warm This Winter" i would say which is very recent by comparison to Mariah.

Radio 1 have been playing Julian Casablancas "I Wish It was Christmas today" a lot. I've only just realised it's a cover after googling just now. A great song none the less and one I had not heard before. I would call it a new Christmas anthem.
