Humax not recognising MP3 player
Jeanniepurple

Me again

My Humax isn't 'seeing' my Creative Zen MP3 player when I connect it to the USB port.

Having waited ages to get onto the helpline I was asked if it was FAT 32 (I think it is as my PC etc is) and told they would send me some extra necessary steps to follow via e-mail.

The e-mail hasn't arrived and given my recent experience of their help, I'm not optimistic that if and when it does arrive it will help.....(and any way if this is the case, why not signpost this in the manual?)

Digital spy colleagues have come to my rescue before and so I am here again asking for help from the community...

Is it not recognising the device or are you not able to see the files on the device?
When you plug the device into the usb port does a message appear onscreen after a couple of seconds?

I'm not familiar with them, but what file format does it use? If it's not usable as a USB mass storage device with FAT32 file format it won't be recognised. And they even have trouble with some bog-standard USB keys with the correct file format as well.

I think you may be out of luck then. There is a known issue that some usb memory sticks can't be recognised by the foxsat due to the chipset in the device, my suspicion is that the same may apply to your mp3 player. It's not all bad news though as you could get yourself a usb stickdrive for a couple of quid or so and stick the files on there.

Again guys ...I'm much obliged to you. I'll try the USB stick route and see what happens.

Many thanks ....I must away now to less techy issues - there's a bird needing attention in the kitchen (so to speak)
