I have a Panasonic DVD recorder a year old.

Every time I switch it on I get the message 'a new dvb service has been found'. I have been immediately pressing the yes button to retune the channels to add this but every time it loads back up the same message reappears immediately so I then have to press the no button to enable me to use the unit.

This has been going on for over two weeks now.

I am in the Winter Hill area and we completed our digital switch over on 2 December so this may be the reason? Wondered if anyone else is having the same problem.

The unit works okay, its just a nuisance. I did do a manual retune in the evening of 2 December both tv and dvd digital box.

As soon as I saw the thread title I just knew it would be a Panasonic product
Press the menu button and locate the set up page, now in one of the lists, mine comes under 'display', there should be a 'new service message' option. set this to off..

This will of course stop legitimate channel prompts so you need to occasionally do an automatic rescan incase there are new channels, but chances are other products you own may give the relevant indication, like your tv for instance.

Thanks for your reply.

I have done that. It was under display and now reads that both on screen messages and new service messages are 'off'.

It wont let me switch off the new service messages without disabling the on screen message option as well.

I take it from your reply this is a known problem with Panasonic.

It seems odd that the two settings are linked. On mine I can set the 'new service message' to off and still retain the 'on-screen messages' with a time out value.

Everybody I know with a Panny product with built-in freeview tuner has this message pop up at one time or another. The first thing I do when I buy one is to disable the prompts.

Right, I've gone back into the menu and yes it has let me switch the on screen messages back on and then individually switch off new service message. I needed to do that in addition to the initial disabling!

Thanks so much for your help.
