I've got a Sherwood RVD-8090 RDS home cinema amplifier that I'm not using. It weights a ton so postage would cost a lot, would it be worth trying to sell it on ebay?

Also got a Pioneer DV-525 but it has a fault where as soon as the tray opens it closes again immediately, giving you no chance to insert a disc and trying to crush any disc that you might have managed to half throw onto the tray. Probably not even worth trying to sell that, what with the low price of DVD players now and blu-ray replacing it anyway.

The postage would be as much as the item is probably worth if you sold it on Ebay. I would take it down to your local cash converters/ Cash Generator as it will save the time and hassle with Ebay fees.

I figured the postage would probably cost more than its worth. We don't really have anywhere local to take it though, and I doubt I'd get much interest on freecycle on a 'buyer collects' basis as we're a bit out of the way here. I'll probably just end up chucking it out.

Try your local Free Adds paper, or the local newspaper classifieds, specify collect only (you can do that on eBay too).

Sherwood's are true, budget high fidelity kit (by budget I mean affordable, not poorly specified). I had one for many years (although not your model), and it was only recently replaced because the digital board failed.

It's replacement, a new Cambridge Azur 540R V2, doesn't quite sound as nice, to me.

I would certainly put it to good use, if I were you. It is definitely worth something to some discerning audiophile.

Very true, I wouldn't just throw it out though...definately not. Someone will pick this up if they want this specific model regardless of where they are.

I picked up some bookshelf speakers to use on my old amp in the summerhouse or bedroom. I knew there was no money in selling it.
