Ok I know some parts of what I'm asking have already been covered by other topics but some have not. Anyway I'm thinking of transferring from Orange to the O2 sim with 300 free texts and have (more than) a few questions. If anyone could answer I'd be grateful

1.) Approx how much is unlocking? I aksed a woman in the Orange shop and she said on Orange it's anywhere up to £35. So how much would it be in a small mobile phone shop?

2.) Can I transfer my number from Orange to O2? how much would it be?

3.) With the Online PAYG talkalot sim can I cahnge the tariff or is it fixed to the 25p for first 3 mins then 5p min after etc? If I do change the tariff will I not get my 300 free texts and wap minutes?

4.) You have to top-up minimum £10 each month, can this be used on calls? i.e. If I top up by £10 then use credit and only have £8 left in my phone will I still get the free texts for that month? Or do you have to keep minimum of £10?

Hope someone can answer these questions. Thanks!

I can answer 3&4 you will have to wait for someone else for 1&2.

3) yes you can change to any O2 payg tariff.

4)You do not need to keep £10 minimum in credit. Your credit is yours to use as and when you like.
You must keep the phone in credit , even by only 1p, to be able to use your 300 free texts, and top up by £10 before the "calendar date" you first topped up each month to get the following months free texts. If you fail to top up before the "calendar date" you will not get your free texts until you do top up and this date will become your new "calendar date".

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much, much appreciated

You say you can switch to any PAYG tariff, I take it you mean I will still get the 300 free texts and wap minutes if I switch so long as I continue to top-up by £10 a month?

I've pretty much answered Q1 myself. The price was £20 in local shop or £15 by someone on a forum (which I'm dubious about, although the person does seem to have a good reputation) or there's a site for £18 (might be worht paying £3 extra for extra security).

Now just really the question about getting my PAC code from Orange and how much it would cost to transfer

Transfering your number is completely free (well, it'll cost to call up o2 online). Just call up orange and ask for a PAC code, then call up o2 online.
