Interesting stuff. I love reading other peoples theories. Here's one of my own I'm mulling over. Could the whole Timelord hints surrounding Wilf be the writer's diversion. There are two armies fighting the Time War. No one has mentioned the Daleks! Maybe they have Chameleon arches too. Is Wilf some sort of Dalek sleeper agent planted by the Daleks to locate the Doctor, kill him and, in the process, wipe out the Timelords too? Very, very scant evidence for this, I know! But it's nagging at me that with all this time war stuff where are the Daleks?

Maybe he is the father of the Dr and the Master? A coward who ran away from the timewar?

I think reading into this is a bit too much - remember Wilf was origannly a one-time character, met the Doctor and Astrid in a newspaper booth. He only became Donna's grandfather when the actor who was to play Donna's dad (as he did in the Runaway Bride) passed away, so they brought in Wilf to play his role.

I admit, RTD, is very clever for turning this on it's head, but he didn't know Wilf would be in this, he didn't even know he would be in Series Four when he made the character, so i doubt that he would have made so much effort making an anagram.

"Lewd From Tit" is my favourite anagram .. for the record

You've been watching too much TV...

He could be a timelord who actually did a 'John Smith' and opted for the normal life?

Timothy Dalton is an anagram of 'dial thy tomato'. Spooky!

RTD knew that those lines referring to the war, would stoke the forums.. Apparently it is the Second World War she was talking about. Listen here from 40:25

Maybe I read too much into the Doctor asking "Who are you?"

Interesting to hear DT call wilf a kindrid spirit to the Doc in Dr Who confidential.

I suppose Wilf must be a timelord. Maybe he's Castalan?

Part two is going to be jam packed with twists and turns me thinks

Before the Doctor put him in the radiation shield, Wilf was beginning to Be affected by the Master, ergo he is human and not Time Lord.

End of argument.

Not necessarily so my friend... Those fob watches turned a timelord into a full blooded human with one heart...

Well maybe, but why is it that he keeps seeing that woman on telly when no-one else can. Also why has RTD said on Confidential that there is a link with him and the Doc? and DT described him as a Kindrid spirit..

I've just started a new thread on watching Part 1 again but was tempted to post my thoughts here initially...

Did RTD not say DT and Wilf have met before, so is this still to be brought up in part 2

And the Episode RTD was talking about was the Empty child, set in WWII

I'm just watching the scene with the woman in the TV again and it's quite cleverly written... she says these things to wilf:-

you're and old soldier who was too late

the war was won and passed you by

you never killed a man

time will come when you must take arms

This would lead you to believe she is talking about WW2. However it could also apply to a timelord and the time war. Maybe it passed him by because he was disguised as human for some reason...

re: 2 posts up:-

Maybe the Timelords believe they have ultimately won the timewar as they are now back and the Daleks are seemingly destroyed...

Listen to the link on my post above RTD explains exactly his intention, with the knowing that those lines would prick up some ears .... Here's the link again

This might have been noted elsewhere, but when in the church, Wilf was stood under the memorial to fallen soldiers and across the top above his head it read "Men Who Have Fallen For Their Country". I just wonder whether that was significant to what will happen to Wilf in part 2 (or could be just the way the scene was shot!!)

See reply #36.

I would argue that it is significant especially as the words were so prominent and the scene had cut from a long shot of Wilf to the close up then back to the long shot

What exactly is Wilf's badge on his hat?

Sylvia was, yes. You got Donna and Rose's mothers mixed up. Jackie Tyler is unaffected because she's on a parallel world. Mickey Smith and Martha Jones, among others, weren't so lucky.
