Nope not really, two words come to mind at that top five, dog dirt

Disclaimer: This is entirely my opinion and I do not wish to get involved in a legal dispute with Lady Gaga's fans.

Yeh GAGA!

Why does everything with Lady GAGA! have to be OTT!
No joke, think she is in the magazines's everyday!

Out their attention seeking!

I'm not necessarily happy OR unhappy with it. TBH, I'm a bit "meh", especially since it was all very expected. I knew (probably as much as anyone else) Joe would top the charts this week.

I am, however, a little shocked RATM have only dropped one place. I was honestly expecting them to fall from the top 3 at least. Especially since the major week for their sales was probably last week. Oh well.

More pleased with Journey reaching number seven

Joe reaching number 1 was to be expected, though.

RATM is a great song but everyone who genuinely liked it has had 17 years to get hold of it, so most of the sales came from the campaign which was successful.

It would have been nice if the campaign was pushed toward the end of the year, too

I am absolutely gobsmacked at RATM staying in the top 5. As much as I love Rage and have been a fan since their first album, I thought once the campaign was over, it would have dropped out of the entire chart.

I guess Zach and the boys are still raging on

Poor Joe, a week too late.

I'm a little confused . Last night I was listening to the news on LBC and they said there had been a shock in the Top 40, with Lady Gaga beating Joe to the top.

At the time I thought "poor old Joe, a loser twice over". Now I find he did make No. 1 after all. How did LBC get it so wrong?

Hit40UK (or whatever it's called now) is not the official charts, to be honest I don't know where they get their figures from, but only BBCR1 play the official top 40 based on physical sales and legal downloads.

Two things probably happened.

1 - People may not have been aware that the Christmas charts ended at Midnight on Saturday, and continued buying right up until the chart show started on Sunday. Given the amount that it sold on Saturday last week, one might expect that the potential Sunday sales alone might get it into the top 3.

2 - Many people will have been exposed to RATM who have never heard the band before and have bought the track.

I suspect reason 1 is the main reason the song got to #2 this week.

Thanks for explaining that. I was under the impression that there was only one chart system these days, but clearly there are others.
