What cables do I need ? Advice please !
Hoping someone can help - I've bought a Samsung LE32B530 TV today, being delivered on Wednesday - but what cables do I need to connect the following -
Laptop computer DVD player (basic, not upscaling) VHS video recorder The TV is full HD 1080, but I do not have any HD sources as yet. I intend to upgrade the DVD player soon to one that upscales, has a USB port & can play DIVX (any recommendations for a cheap player ?) so I take it I need at least one HDMI cable for that, but I am clueless about the others, especially the laptop as I have never connected it to a TV before. Any help gratefully received

For the laptop you will need one of these
For the video and Dvd(for now) you will need a scart cable ![]() Hope it helps Edit: best hurry up with the upscaler dvd as the tv only has one scart connector |

For the upscaler this one gets decent review scoring and is less than £50 with USB

Many thanks D3XT3R & rjb101 for the advice. I will check out those links
![]() I did note when buying the TV that it only had 1 scart socket, but the VHS player probably won't last much longer & I'd like a new DVD player purely for the DIVX-capability, so it shouldn't be a problem. That LG DVD player looks a good price. I've also found a couple of Samsung players on Amazon for under £50 - this one or this one (only difference I can see is the appearance ?) Not sure if there's any advantage to buying the same brand (other than presumably the TV remote control may be compatible). The laptop cable is confusing me. I cannot identify the laptop's connections by sight (technophobe !) so I googled my laptop (a 4yr old Dell Inspiron 6000) & it seems some people have had problems connecting it as it is without one connection (it may be the DVI one referred to by rjb101) ! From a spec I found it does apparently have a VGA output & a S-video output, but do both of these carry video & audio if I connect them to the TV ? I know some cables only carry one or the other !! Very confusing
