DVD VCR combi
We are looking at getting a DVD recorder VCR combi and have seen one on Comet and Amazon, but have a couple of questions:
1 - the one we have seen is a Toshiba one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-RDXV.../ref=de_a_smtd would it affect how we use our sky+ ? 2 - would we be able to record videos to dvd with it? 3 - at the moment we have seperate dvd and vcr with the aerial coming in through the vcr to the television - would it still be able to do this on the new set up as it is a surveillance camera that uses this set up (we dont have analogue any more) sorry for all the questions - just want to be sure on things before we jump in and buy! thanks |

1. Won't affect your use of Sky+ at all.
2. You will be able to copy videos you have made yourself to DVD. You won't be able to copy any commercial videos that you have bought as these will have macrovision protection on them. To copy these you would need separate VCR and DVDR, with a SONEL enabled cable between the two of them. 3. Won't affect your security camera at all. |

reply....
....I had one of these for a few days (then sent it back -Amazon) - the SCART RGB was not good (I'm not so sure it was 'true' RGB - maybe composite via scart) - the picture quality was severly lacking - very 'flat' and cartoonish rather than full colour range ....

ah right, thanks for the replies
our security camera comes in through the aerial cable at the moment, through the vcr and into the tv. as the dvd recorder is digital would this mean if the camera is on an analogue cable we wouldnt be able to view it? thanks |

The DVDR you linked to has an analogue and digital (Freeview) tuner so you will still be able to tune it to the camera output on the analogue tuner.
