I'm only 16 though at the minute, so I suppose I have time to broaden my musical tastes, but I would say that music isn't quite what it used to be anymore. Songwriters are being lazy. They are producing five-minutes-of-fame music (N-Dubz, Tinchy Stryder, Pixie Lott, Lady Gaga, and I would include Taylor and Katy in this list). I don't think I can name a single song that will become a classic that has been released in the past year (except for Sex On Fire, maybe...)”
those two are my favourite bands, well done sherlock
i like a bit of indie rock, but proper indie - not what the mainstream recognises as indie, eg. kaiser chiefs, the killers, temper trap, etc.
best of the noughties lists are difficult for me, because most of my favourite music came before this decade, so when i measure today's music against the stuff i like from past decades... not a lot of it compares favourably. i'm not saying there hasn't been some incredible music this decade, but none of it appeared to be included in that list.
my other problem with lists like these is the terminology - i can't see that list for what they're saying it is: those aren't the "greatest" songs of the noughties. they're the favourites from a poll they conducted. so maybe they're the most popular songs, but i wouldn't define every single one of them as "great". and i don't mean just me personally, there have been wider polls conducted with (what i think are) fairer results.
a list which ranks james blunt's offerings at number 10 but with no mention of lady gaga, the strokes, the libertines, muse, radiohead (and i'm not a fan of all of them, it's just what i see as fair), etc... i just can't take it seriously.
