2000 - 1
2001 - 1
2002 - 0
2003 - 3
2004 - 2
2005 - 1
2006 - 6
2007 - 3
2008 - 2
2009 - 0

No songs from 2002 or 2009 made the list and 2006 was the most represented year by far

Hehe yes, although I have lots of songs on my iPod that I certainly wouldn't have considered worthy of the top 20. For example the Scissor Sisters song that made the list, I like it, but don't consider it one of the greatest of the decade!

I only saw the number 1, 'Chasing Cars'.......urgh i just hate that song!!!!!!!!!

And i like Snow Patrol, so much more of their songs are better than that over exposed tripe!!!

Does anyone have a link to the full list??

Copied from TV Programmes forum...

Yeah Chasing Cars is a brilliant song.

But a bit like the TV shows list last night, this list was crap.

20. Leave Right Now- Will Young - Agreed. Should have been higher.
19. Ruby- Kaiser Chiefs - An absolutely horrendous song!
18. Valerie- Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse - Yup.
17. Viva La Vida- Coldplay - Half decent, but really, not even the best Coldplay song
16. Take Me Out- Franz Ferdinand - Go on then. Rightly down near the bottom of the list
15. Mercy- Duffy - Overplayed, overrated.
14. Patience- Take That - It's not a remarkable song by any stretch of the imagination, it just happened to be their comeback song
13. Stan- Eminem - Agreed.
12. I Don't Feel Like Dancing- Scissor Sisters - Should have been higher
11. Hey Ya!- Outkast - Purleeease!
10. You're Beautiful- James Blunt - Unfortunately yes.
9. Can't Get You Out Of My Head- Kylie Minouge - Yeah agreed.
8. Crazy In Love- Beyonce - Would have been my #1
7. Rule The World- Take That - Better than Patience but still not worthy of being in the list
6. Crazy- Gnarls Barkley - Agreed
5. Rehab- Amy Winehouse - Leave it at one Winehouse song I think. Valerie was better
4. Sex On Fire- Kings Of Leon
3. I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor- Arctic Monkeys
2. Mr. Brightside- The Killers
1. Chasing Cars- Snow Patrol

The last 4 all deserve high places.

But the list is too indie orientated. Clearly many of the people who voted were wanting to make a point. Rihanna (Umbrella especially), GaGa and Girls Aloud even all should have had a mention. Thank GOD there was no Leona Lewis though.

calling the list too indie-heavy is going straight over the top of my head.

where are the indie bands?

granted, a few very very commercial, mainstream indie-superlite bands make an appearance, but... no genuine indie.

Thanks for posting Tom and Sprogg!

I think I would have Amy Winehouse - Rehab at number one....

Shocked at Coldplay's Viva la vida, being the only Coldplay song there, that song is so boring and unmemorable compared to anything on Parachutes or A rush of blood to the head.....what about:

The Scientist
Yellow
Clocks

All better than Viva La Vida!

Nice to see Stan:Eminem there too. Few that deserved to be in top 20 in my own humble opinion!

- Hurt, Johnny Cash
- One Day like this - Elbow
- Mad World - Gary Jules
- Cry me a River - Justin Timberlake
- Golddigger - Kanye West
- Standing in the way of Control - The Gossip

Yayyyy no bleeding love, or alexandra - hallilujah!!!

Wouldn't even put these in my top 100. At least there was no Leona Lewis.

I have all but 2 of those songs on my iPod. Brilliant list, which in my opinion, chose some of the more innovative records from the most talented artists, this decade. Im overjoyed crap like spears and X-Factor rubbish was overlooked.
Wouldn't have put chasing cars at no.1 mind, Its a good song but it aint that good.

I hope I don't turn into that when I'm 30 then!

Ruby by the Kaiser Chiefs?

Says it all really...

Only saw the top 5 but I've never heard the song at number 2 in my life before.

Think I'm getting very out of touch.

2006 was the best year for music in the noughties so I am pretty pleased with that. They could have put a better Coldplay song in there like Clocks or the Scientist to be honest.

I can't believe that the Scissor Sisters or the Artic Monkeys made it that high though.

No Keane was a disappointment, I would have given "First of the Gang" by Morrissey a shout too and no Dragonforce was a shame (but I never expected them to be there)

They never put Morrissey in lists like these, no matter how good the songs are.

People are just smarting Gaga, Rihanna and other bland pop acts didn't get on the list. Yeah the list was probably put together by Indie fans but you know what it's about time the shit was put to one side just because it sells well it doesn't represent all of us sheep!

I like Lady Gaga and think she deserved a song somewhere in the top 50, same for Rhianna as well. I don't care much however for boring old farts like Will Young and James Morrison, their voices put me straight to sleep.

it was voted for by the public.

and, again, someone point out the "indie" on that list to me.

actual indie now - not mainstream guitar bands.

Indie or not that list was better than what would have been had it been done on sales. Shayne f***ing Ward he can't f***ing sing!

"Chasing Cars" was #1? I like Snow Patrol but that is my least liked song of theirs. How to Be Dead is a million times better.

I was both pleasantly surprised and disappointed by this countdown.

So much so I've started my own little poll to find the best song of the Noughties!
