The ONLY way BB is ever going to get better is if they had a bigger:
Prize

If they had a £1 millon prize it would be great, because the housemates would:

Be more competive

which means

More Fights
More Bitching
More SEX
etc.

So c'mon BB.

I think £1 Million is too much, what if the housemates were boring?

For example I'd personally begrudge awarding any of the BB4 housemates £1 Million, in fact I thought £70,000 was more than any of them deserved.

I think £100,000
Coolies

I think the target should be a little bit more £1 million is way too much tho, about £200,000 would be good.

I've thought this the last couple of years. £70k is just not enough, you can't even buy a decent house for £70k! Why would any normal (non-media desperate) person want to put themselves through all of that hassle and media attention for 70 grand?

All the contestants know that no matter how long they stay in the house, they can easily make more than that amount, selling their stories etc. So where is the incentive to win it?? For most of them just getting on to the show is enough.

With big brother usa, there is more fight and determination to win the main prize because the prize is actually worth it!

With all the money that endemol/c4 make from this show I think they can raise the prize fund to an amount that makes it worth the fight.

I think £250,000 is a decent prize fund!

But surely this is the point - why should Endemol pay out more than 70K when there are thousands of desperados who would do it for nothing ?

Lets face it you could ask applicants to pay an entrance fee to get an audition for the show and thousands would......................

true, but we don't want a house full of media desperados!! Well it's not what I want to see!

Normal people who aren't afraid to show their emotions for fear of risking their future media personnas.

I'd like to see the prize money raised to £200,000.

In exchange all the entrants must sign a contract stating that they will not appear in any TV shows (excluding BB itself) or press articles from two weeks following their eviction.

Fair?

I'd say a month.

Or even like BB USA ......... lets not hear from any of them until the next year! Lets be honest, the majority of the GB public get bored with them very soon after the show ends.

It's nice to occasionally hear what they are up to, but apart from that, who really cares all that much? They entertained us for a few weeks during the summer, when the tv was crap, what else?

I do think that the media attention that they get after the show is one of the main reasons (as well as the prize) why the show isn't working as well as it did.

Don't the BBUSA evictees get taken to a holding house, where they are not on camera, but are isolated until the end of the series?? I think that would be good for BB5, the media hungry housemates would only be available for things like BBLB, it would stop the wannabees playing to the camera if they were aware an early departure probably guarantees virtually no press attention as they would be forgotten by the time the winner was announced. They sign a contract agreeing to nine weeks incarceration in the BB house, so why not get them to sign for nine weeks win or lose??

I am liking that idea very very much !!

But then the BB USA doesn't really have the same media/tabloid attention that we have here. So no doubt The Sun would be tracking the evicted housemates down intent on putting all their pictures on the front page thereby ruining the point of it in the first place!

But the point is the Sun or whoever wouldn't have access to them, so anythinkg that was written would not come from the horses mouth. I am sure the contestants would try harder to stay in the main house if they knew they could be returning to obscurity. You would also get people applying that were genuinely doing it for the experience and not the exposure.

I still think it sounds like a great idea. Maybe this kind of situation would make normal everyday people apply. I would love to do big brother for the experience, but have absolutely no interest in all the media attention that goes along with it, that's why I have never even considered applying. If I could do the show and go back to my normal life, then I would.

We want people who are genuine, people who have opinions and don't put up with crap from other people. But until they producers stop picking fame hungry people then the show is doomed forever ! (well until the end of this one, coz if it is as bad as last year, I reckon it's all over). Which would be a huge shame!

Totally agree with you, I would have loved to do it too, but I fear I am too old for the producers and my teenagers would never live the embarassment down (or maybe getting rid of me for a guaranteed nine weeks would be fair compensation)!!

I reckon the best way to get great housemates is to do an EDTV pub search!

In the movie the producers of the show go around different pubs and talk to people, take a little clip of them and go over all the tapes.

Wouldn't this be a great way to get normal people on the show? Well as long as they visit pubs relatively early on in the night, don't want them being too drunk.

As long as they don't mention it's for big brother! This way the people are more natural coz they don't know what show it's for.
