[i]'ve got 2, the wife has an iphone, the darling daughter has one, her boy friend has one, all 3 of my sister in laws have one. My 80 year old mother in law has one

Not sure about my sister but both my nieces do...

So that leaves my Dad as the only person I know without one.

But he's deaf.

I don't have an iPod.

Instead, I have an 8GB Creative X-FI, with an SD slot. It's brilliant.

I never listen to music via earphones .

So I did get an IPOD but to listen to when driving via the FM transmitter system but I have to say that for driving use it is crap because it has no backlight .

At home my hundreds of cd's are all stored on the hard drive of my PS3

I own an iRiver IHP-140 40GB MP3 player (that also plays other formats) although I've not used it for quite a while as I now have a car with a CD player. Sound quality is immense for a portable player though.

Got a 16GB Sony Walkman. Can't be dealing with iPods when the fact is they really are not that good, or at least as good as other MP3 players out there, plus an MP3 player doesn't need to get any more complicated than drag and drop

I still use minidisc - been using the same portable that takes AA batteries now for about 5 years or more - how many owners of iPods can say that lol

I don't know what people have against the iPod and iTunes. This whole dragging and dropping process seems silly to me. Why not just keep a playlist synced to your iPod/iPhone. If you want to add music to your iPod just drag and drop the track from your main library into the playlist and next time you connect the iPod the new tracks will be added and ones you have removed from the playlist will be removed from the iPod. Even better, if you make a change to any of the tags then the change will also be done on the iPod as well.

I worked with drag and drop directly to iPod before. And it just got really tedious and messy with different labels on the iPod to the main music library. Then it occurred to me that if I just used sync instead then my iPod would mirror the playlist or library I am syncing to so things don't get messy and I don't get duplicates, and any tags I fix on my iTunes will automatically be fixed on my iPod.
