Are there any other fans of this possibly forgotten band? For a long time I thought "Perfect" was the only song they ever did but I'm listening to their album, a The First Of A Million Kisses and it's just lovely.

Lead singer Eddi Reader doesn't rely on vocal gymnastics like most of today's mainstream female singers. She's got such an easy, pleasant voice that's so nice to listen to. I was pleased to learn via her website that she's still making music.

It's a shame the band in their original form didn't last long, though. Their songs are so quirky and fun and just nice, and don't really sound dated to me at all. I wish music like this was more mainstream.

How I envy you!

I would love to see her live, especially after watching a cover she did of Walking After Midnight in the 80s. She brings such a sense of fun to music.

'Perfect' was dreadfully overplayed at the time - I still remember it being everywhere even though I was only five or so. I still like the song but there are other tracks on the album that are far superior.

That song was played at my grans funeral, it is a beautiful song.

Eddi reader has a fantastic voice that just makes you feel all warm. I think the last time I heard her sing was last new year, im sure she was on some hogmanay programme.

Eddi s career has been rather resurrected recently, although in truth she never went away - but her album of Burns songs a few years back kind of relaunched her...

She sang at the opening of the Scottish Parliament , ( proof of how highly she is regarded) a really beautiful song www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybVHStNqksY which infact can be found on that very same Burns album ( although its not actually a Burns song, but written by her partner I believe), and she is also a usual suspect at Celtic Connections etc, along with the other scottish grandees such as Phil Cunningham and John McCusker, and quite rightly I'd say.

Her most recent album Love is the Way is really lovely ( apart from a truly uninspiring cover of Its Magic, must confess I always skip that one)

Such a talented artist, who I think has often not had the right material. Till she met Rabbie that is

ps - anyone else remember her in BBC Scotlands/John Byrne's Your Cheating Heart...along with Tilda Swinton, Katy Murphy and John Gordon Sinclair....? ( it was commissioned after the success of Tutti Frutti)

I always thought 'Find My Love' was miles better than 'Perfect', even at the time, although I never could understand the subsequent "Eddie Reader must win 'Best Female' every year at the Brits" thing.

Yes, I loved that series, and Eddi Reader was very good in it.

Love 'Perfect' and some of Eddi's solo stuff too, notably 'Dear John' which is a lovely cover of a Kirsty MacColl song (co-wrote with Mark Nevin- part of Fairground Attraction) I even thing the cover is better:
