As we are approaching the end of this decade, imagine it is 10 years time, what do you think music will be like?

Will we still have physical media to purchase it on, or will it all be downloads, or some yet unthought of method. What about genres, will bands still play actual instruments, or will everything be electronic, will the charts be full of TV game show winners? (This weeks number one, Alice from Jeopardy!)

What are your predictions for the music scene December 2019?

Electro pop is really coming back at the moment with female acts like La Roux and Little Boots doing well. Next year it seems a wave of male Electro pop acts will be coming through with acts such as Delphic, Two Door Cinema Club, The Hurts and Ou Est Le Swimming Pool complimented with Ellie Goulding who will probably do well.

I think we might see the electro pop thing evolve and dominate the early part of the decade.

its just impossible to predict! by 2019 we may have a whole new wave of music which nobody could ever imagine listening to now. a whole new genre maybe. i think what more interesting is what artists will still be doing well. will lady gaga still be banging out massive tunes? will leona still be warbling away? and i wonder what will become of britney! infact i dread to think

We'll all be dead by 2012, so it'll be skeleton rock.

Have you got a crystal ball? Cos I haven't I made an educated estimate as far as I could which is the middle of the decade! Maybe you can let us see into the future in your mystical crystal ball!

I think that albums will cease to exist by 2019. I know that acts such as the Black Eyed Peas are planning just to release singles in the future.

Just a minority of people are saying this at the moment, but I believe it will be the usual way of doing things in 10 years time.

I agree and with Xtina changing her sound to electro pop, she may hit it up a notch for the americans.

i never said i had an answer, you did. you read a question asking you about music in 2019 and you replied with an answer about music "at the moment".

no need to get so defensive dear

I think that as digital signals grow stronger and more reliable, online streaming (such as internet radio and spotify like services) will dominate.

Mainstream media, including TV, will dissolve even further, especially when the analogue systems switch off. There will be too much choice.

i think you've hit on something there, that there's becoming "too much choice".

I wonder if record labels will still exist? maybe phone networks like 02 and Orange will sign bands directly and distribute their music through the phone networks.

I think it's quite possible people will subscribe to music services so they have access to an online jukebox rather than buying physical releases.

I also wonder if there might be a far smaller number of bands, but they will all reach stadium level. The labels that are still ok are signing far fewer bands so if that trend continues, it will become more of hobby to be in a band rather than a career, so far fewer people will do it but the ones that do could have bigger success.
