Unlocking a T610 currently on Orange
Hi. I have a T610 which is currently locked to Orange. And im wanting to change networks so that i can use my o2 online sim. Or possibly buy a vodafone sim.
Im just wondering exactly what the procedure for doing this is? Who do i phone? What details about my phone will i need? How long is this likely to take before i can use another sim card in the phone? And more importantly, how much will this cost? |

Not sure how much it will cost if you ask Orange to do it, but if you have a data cable you can do it yourself with some downloadable software and a few £s. Do a search for "unlocking t610" or something similar. You need a data cable to unlock it yourself though, it won't work if you try and use IR or Bluetooth...

Amazingly I've decided today I want to get my Orange T610 phone unlocked too. I've decided to go back to vodafone.

Dont mess about with markets and upgrading.
Me and my mate were total novices, after some googling and some fantastic help from this website, (not an advert or plug) http://cellular-support.com/nuke/forums.html We were well away and now have totally unlocked Sony Ericssons GOOD LUCK!!! |

I want to put a vodafone sim card in my orange phone. I've just been given a 'PSE' (I think) code which is valid for 7-10 days. Now I'm led to believe for this sim card to fit I have to ring up vodafone and then give them this code in order for my phone to accept this sim card. Is this right? Cos I'm a little confused.

Don't what you're going on about mate!! PSE's and all that!!
As I said before any SIM will work in the phone after you unlock it, it's just a matter of getting off your butt and using Google, just make sure you get the right cable "terminated one" and software from the website I mentioned but make sure you read up on it 1st as you can bu**er up your phone |

Neither do I.
I've just rung orange and they've given me this code ORG100... which I'm supposed to give to Vodafone once I have the Sim Card. They've not charged me for giving me this code. So i'm not sure what they interupted 'unlocking' as. |

When you ring Orange 'unlocking the phone' is the correct term right?
And surely orange should do it themselves, as to giving me a code to give to vodafone? |

Whoa Whoa!! Hold on here, all I was offering was help on how to unlock the phone.
I dont know what you're doing with Vodafone and Orange, good luck whatever it is but Im just offering advice on how to unlock a Sony Ericsson. THATS IT, questions like that you're asking here you SHOULD be asking customer service and not me!! Good luck I think!! |

Sorry, didn't want to sound like I was having a go at you. I would invest in some sort of unlocking kit, but beings I've got a lot of Orange credit I was prepared to let them do it, but it doesn't look like they've quite understood what I want them to do.
Thanks for your help. Looks like it's time for more fun with customer services. |

Finally I think I've sorted it. Rang Orange again, and it seems they've understood the term "unlocking the phone". They thought I wanted to permantly move to a network or something.
Bit of confusion with IMEI numbers because I had a new phone with my old sim and my sister had my old phone with a new sim. So when it came to giving an IMEI numbers it was a difficult thing. But the situation is almost sorted! (and mum was talking to the CS women like she knew her, lol)
