PPV BB, Would You Subscribe?

Would anyone be prepared to pay for uncensored BB coverage?

I think, in principle anyway, it would be a good idea, shortly after BB3 finished, I read somewhere the idea was raised that CH4 was trying to do this for BB4. The idea was soon scrapped due to the broadcast regulations. I think it was because the ITC regulations (As it was known then), would’ve meant that a degree of censorship would have to remain in place because of Housemates talking about people on the outside, company names etc, whereas I still think that if a disclaimer was put on-screen during the live coverage saying something like "CH4 are not responsible for the comments of the Housemates" would help. Having said that I can see that CH4 need to monitor what's broadcast for legal reasons, housemates, I suppose, do slip up from time to time & sometimes things are said that can't be broadcast therefore CH4 need to monitor things.

I know that if there was some way to overcome this hurdle then I would gladly pay to watch coverage of BB without the sound dips, sound dips are annoying & I think most people will agree but it’s something we all have to live with, it’ll be no different this year, it would mean that watching BB would be a much more enjoyable experience.

It’s not all CH4’s fault & I wouldn’t like to put the blame squarely on their shoulders. The rules need to change on what can or cannot be shown on British TV & that comes from OFCOM (Whose regulations are well out of date & need to be dragged into the 21st century). I’m sure CH4 would like to do more with their coverage but can’t.

The best we can all hope for is that BB5 is the success we all hope it will be this time, therefore those annoying sound dips will not be so noticeable.

I'm not sure that having PPV would make any difference

You would probably 'see' more in the sense of nudity if that is considered an advantage...........

But I can't see how it would affect sound dips

These happen when HMs talk about celebs or people they know in RL, sing songs, use profanity during the day...............surely the PPV sound would be dipped in exactly the same circumstances

I guess they could use the money to buy up the right to perform some pop songs and then give the HMs a list of allowable songs for them to sing, but then we'd all be moaning about them singing the same songs over and over again

I thought this when E4 first started. Why couldn't they show a BB without the dips for swearing and nudity that could be on subscription if viewers wanted to watch. This would be easy to police for parents worried about children watching, just use the child lock. I don't think they would ever be allowed to broadcast anthing defamatory about somebody outside the house, however many disclaimers they made. Mud sticks, whether it is true or not and Endemol and C4 would soon be bankrupt from court cases!! BB, for some reason seems to dip more than other reality shows, sometimes I wonder if it is just laziness on the part of the editors when the chicken cam is on air for ages!!

No, I would not pay! I'm to used to pulling out my hair when they have long sound dips/chicken cam on I can't see how they could have a channel without sound dips? I would have complained in BB3 if they 'd not had sound dips, it's what stopped my head from exploding from Jades mouth working over time

Thankyou for keeping your reply short & to the point .

You must be glad then that this is never likely to happen. I'm not saying it would be for everyone, just another option for people who might be interested, if the price was right then I would consider subscribing. My suggestion was purely hypothetical because whilst the broadcasting regulations remain the same we will have to put up with censoring, hope you enjoy BB5.........plus the sound dips

I'd pay for a reshowing of BB3, especially without the sound dips. Otherwise, definitely not.
