Have you ever heard a song without knowing the artist and wrongly guessed who it was?

I have, a few times. Usually you would hear a new song on the radio for the first time, and their voice sounds like someone you know so you assume it's them, only you find out you were very wrong .

Examples:

Kiss me through the phone - (Soulja Boy Tell 'Em Ft. Sammie) . I thought was being sung by Ne-yo but instead was some dude named Sammie.

Russian roulette - Rihanna . I thought was sung by Esmee Denters at the very very start but gradually started sounding like Rihanna before I found out it was her.

I can think of some more soon... so anyone else gone through that before?

Nice thread.

I kept hearing the song "No Worries" by Simon Webbe on the radio and for some bizarre, oddball reason, I thought it was a comeback single from The Lighthouse Family.

He just sounded like the dude from The Lighthouse Family.

When Donna Lewis's 'I Love You Always Forever' was all over the radio back in 1996, I assumed it was Cyndi Lauper for a while.

When I first heard Chris Brown's "With You" I thought it was Ne-Yo singing. I then caught the video and thought "Oh, it's not Ne-Yo, it's Mario!". Then at the end I saw it was in fact Chris Brown.

When I heard the band Paramore for the first time (I think it was Misery Business) I thought it was an Avril Lavigne song. No offense to any Paramore fans.

The first time I heard Gary Jules' cover of Mad World, I thought it was Michael Stipe from REM.

Yes..this has happened to me a lot, but the only one which I can think of right now is 'Remedy' by Little Boots - for ages I thought it was Lady GaGa.

I heard the American version that McFly did of '5 colours in her hair' and thought it was Green Day covering the song!

I used to think that Layla was by Eric Clapton, then I discovered that it was a band I'd never heard of (Derek and the Dominos).

I thought Robbie Williams - Let Me Entertain You was Linda Perry... only until the end of the first time I heard it though.

Eric Clapton was in Derek & The Dominos, and he arguably made his very best work with them.
