Doctor Who: The End of Time part two, BBC1 new year's day, 6.40pm.
well this is it ladies and gents, after tonights episode david tennant's time on the show will be over and we will have a new doctor. This could quite possibly be the biggest episode since doctor who's revival back in 2005, is everyone looking forward to this? I sure am.

I don't think it'll be as exciting as the build up to the Bad Wolf reveal in series 1 (and the inevitable disappointment as we realised the fan theories would have actually been a lot better).

I have often wondered about a Doctor Who series written by fans...... a select few (10 I say) who are locked away for 3 months to plan a write a story or two.
Could be quite interesting idea. |

besides which, there have been lots of very postive reports filtering out regarding Matt's take on the role. I'm sure he will be fine. |

Blimey you lot! Does anyone actually like Dr Who on this forum? Every time i come in here its handbags at dawn as you are all bitching about how rubbish it is or how it might be awful. I remember when Dr Who was cancelled and no one liked Dr Who in the 80s and 90s. We are so lucky to have it back and its been brilliant with David Tennant and with Chris Eccleston before him. Its an amazing programme, but its just tv and the way its analysed so much takes the fun out it. Enjoy it for what it is! Its fun!
I'm looking forward to the last outing of our David and am sure I will be crying and loving every minute! Roll on tonight!!

For the most part I've really enjoyed the RTD and Tennant era, but by crikey that Christmas day special was poor. Kitchen sink writing at it's worst. I really hope this evening's episode proves a proper bow-out for all concerned, and I'm sure it will.

Right let's get the usual bashing comments out the way. It's crap, Worst episode ever and RTD should step down... Oh wait he has done
![]() Think I'll do the intelligent thing and wait til it's over before passing judgement

I don't really know what to expect this evening after the first part. EOT Part 1 was a let down, there was just too much going on at once, so I'm not sure if they'll manage to redeem the story or not. I'm hoping they will, but I'm not sure.

It's followed by the Cybermen double-bill on alt.Earth and "Love and Monsters" (The Idiot's Lantern seems to have vanished...). A decent way to kill time ahead of 6.40! |

There were some very good scenes in EoT1 but it wasn't a satisfying episode in its own right. I'm really anticipating something special tonight.
Im the past I've thought that finales were weakened by the resolution being weaker than the build up. If the clips are anything to go by I think the balance might be better this time. |

On that note, "The Girl in the Fireplace" is on Watch just now.

What I find interesting about the number of negative comments on here for each episode is how contrary to the audience shares and AIs (and the DS polls themselves) the distribution seems to be. I'm not saying that the negative commentators are wrong or right or purple. I'm just viewing it as an interesting piece of data (once a scientist, always a scientist.)
For example, we could work out just how different the polls were to the AI for each episode to properly settle the question of poll bias (and how much, and in which direction.) We could then possibly (if a constant bias is found) use the DS polls to predict the AIs. How the bias differs between the DS communities could then tell us something interesting about the nature of the communities. Where is a friendly statistician when you need them?
