Just seen DT/MS regeneration on BBC News Channel.

Should be on the News Channel again at about half past the hour.

Could all be a hoax scene though, did they film different endings?

Why WOULD it be a hoax scene ?

The great thing about this episode is nobody actually knows what's going to happen.

Despite all the theories, the 'spoilers', the trailers and the exclusive clips, I for one have no clue how it all fits together, how the TL's fit in, the war, the Master race, Donna, Wilf, the Doctor's death and regeneration etc.

The next hour of television will be completely new and despite RTD not being the greatest writer in the world, that excites the hell outta me

My GOD I am excited.

Was disappointed by the Christmas Day episode. Hoping that it was just a warm up to a belter farewell to Tennant tonight.

Oh and I tuned into Fawlty Towers last night and who did I see? WILF As the hotel inspector that wasn't a hotel inspector. Brilliant

Absolute bull.
Matt Smith is a better actor than Tennant, and Steven Moffat is a better writer than RTD.

Yes like millions of people had heard of David Tennant yet millions hadn't ever heard of Matt Smith until after it was announced that he would be taking over.

A massive "WHO?" was the main reaction to the replacement announcement.

How did this stunning actor get past so many people to the point of obscurity?

Just been watching the lead ups to tonights finale on BBCHD - hell Waters of Mars was one damn good story & hope that RTD doesn't balls this up - it has to be big and I want to feel the same emotional impact of a regen that Pertwee to Baker and Baker to Davidson did.

Rewatched Waters of Mars too. The latter half of that episode is fantastic and the episode as a whole was actually better the second (third, fourth etc) time around, because the impending doom was all that more menacing.

Here's hoping DT, RTD and JG go out with a massive blaze of glory! Not long now...

Will admit I am getting a bit nervous here and am intrigued to see how this next regeneration goes

I can't see this 10th regeneration as being straightforward

I have a feeling there is going to be a twist in either the timelords forcing another regeneration as with Doctor 2 or Doctor 10 really expiring and somehow passing on his regeneration energy to someone else who will change into Matt

Concerning this next regeneration, I do wonder if Matt will have a bit of dialogue before the end credits

IIRC DT and Colin Baker have so far been the only doctors to have some dialogue at the end of their predecessors run

I'm a bit frustrated - I'm round at family's - they are all watching the soaps (which I love too), so I'm recording tonights finale + Confidential, so I cannot comment until MUCH later on.
I'll be thinking of you all between 6.40 and 8pm !

I had the same problem on Xmas day as I was working but it was on as soon as I walked through the door .

However watching a regen 'live' (as it were) has always been something I try not to miss.

1 Hour to go!

It is sad that David will not be The Doctor any more in under three hours time.

Since he announced he was quitting I didn't really think it'd make any difference at all to my life at all, and it probably won't...but just now I was reminiscing about people I know (or knew) and that some time or other there'd be a discussion about Doctor Who and how they were going to miss Billie Piper, wasn't that one with the statues really scary and how Catherine Tate was good as a one-off but not for a whole series...or going further back, how the 'new guy' will not be as good as Eccleston.

Basically, I'm starting to think that it will be weird...it'll be the same show, and I've never been one for favourites but I'm starting to feel that Tennant will be my Doctor - not just because of what he's done with the role, but because of memories of conversations with my friends through High School about the show which happened to be under his rule.

I'm reaching that stage in life where TV will shoot down in my list of priorities and interests...and I've been resisting saying it because its so corny and cheesy and overdone, but it does really feel like the end of an
era.

Gahh, mustn't cry. Will watch with anticipation for Time Lords, Wilf, Tennant and Smith and...everything that it can deliver!

This will be the first regen I see 'live'

Most of the others have been watched on either DVD or the Watch channel

You do know that it is on at 6:40?

So much less than an hour to go!

I wouldn't want you to miss it!

He's young and his career was just starting out, especially on TV as opposed to the stage. In the work he's done he's certainly been noticed and praised. Can certainly provide links to favourable reviews for his stage work - if you're actually interested in reality.

David (and indeed Chris as well) was better known than Matt, but far from being a household name. None of them was the subject of much speculation prior to being cast and, in my opinion, that's probably how it should be.

do we really need to have arguments about the relative merits of David or Matt's fame/noteriety/public awareness

anyway back to Willy Wonka....
