CONGRATULATIONS!

Will Young's song "Evergreen" has been declared the top-selling song of the decade

I remember, way back in 2002, when this song was released 3 weeks after Will won Pop Idol. The fact that there were NO DOWNLOADS in those bygone days, and that the physical single cost £3-£4 in the shops ONLY, makes for a worthy winner!

This physical single (with "Anything is Possible" on the 'B' side) sold a massive 1.1 million in its FIRST WEEK, and consequently ended up with sales of 1.8 million!

Whether he's your cup of tea or not, it's a fact that he's still here, 8 years on, with 5 albums (including The Hits, which is still riding high in the album charts) and a 6th dance album in all probability being released this year

Here's his latest version of "Evergreen"being sung 'live' on the recent Paul O'Grady Show:

Sorry, but this is the full thread that I put on, and not the other of the same title - I couldn't delete the other one, unfortunately

O'er, even I'm getting confused now

Well you're obviously a fan and far be it for me to slate any artist, I always believe people have a right to like whoever they want as far a music is concerned. On a personal note though, looking through this list of the top ten, I feel just a little tad dismayed to think that this is the most popular music in the UK today

1. Will Young: Evergreen

2. Gareth Gates: Unchained Melody

3. Shaggy: Wasn't Me

4. Tony Christie/Peter Kay: Amarillo

5. Band Aid 20: Do They Know It’s Christmas?

6. Hear’Say: Pure And Simple

7. Shayne Ward: That’s My Goal

8. Kylie: Can't Get You Out Of My Head

9. Bob the Builder: Can We Fix It

10. Atomic Kitten: Whole Again

Yes, I agree with you, but most of these artists/groups have looooong gone But it just goes to show that more people bought singles when these 10 were around, even though a lot were physical rather than downloads. Surely, this must mean that it would be more profitable for Music Companies to return to having physicals, together with a 'B' side?
