Later shortened to Fuzzbox, biggest hit was International Rescue and weren't they something to do with Ade Edmondson?

Not a long name, but strange nonetheless.

Magenta Skycode. (where do they get the names from?)

I'm posting the following vid simply because of the jawdropping footage of the guys in flight. The song goes well with it imo........

"We Were Promised Jetpacks" is one of my current favourite band names.

Quite like their music as well!

A good Bristol rock/punk band from a few years ago, reminiscent of Mclusky in both sound and funny song titles.

Imagine trying to explain The Duckworth Lewis Method to, say, an American.

Have always had a soft spot for Half Man, Half Biscuit.

But really you would have to go a long way to find a name as silly as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince.

A name I hate with a passion as it's so morbid is the following:-

Dogs Die In Hot Cars

Obviously these guys are better known as OMD but to give them their full name - Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.

Then there's splodgenessabounds who had a hit with 'Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps Please'.

Another weird name - Gorky's Zygotic Mynci.

Was going to mention them as well - apparently it is a completely meaningless name they just made up, which I think makes it even better.

Another good one - "Godspeed You! Black Emperor"

That's impressive if it's well and truely made up; as the only word I could get my head around was the 'Gorky' part of their name. It reminds me of the "Gorky Park' bit in 'Wind of Change' by The Scorpions.

Carrying on with the theme of black after your Godspeed reference, there's Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Sounds like somewhere the Hells Angels would congregate.
