I dont know about you guys, but I was emotional but laughing at the same time. Matt Smith looked superb as the new Dr.. He was so funny. Even so, it was still sad to see David Tennant leave us with the " I dont want to go " line.

I had to laugh at the " still dont have ginger " hair line by Matt Smith. From what I have seen Matt Smith has raised the bar even further.

Spring 2010 is looking good for Dr Who and Matt Smith !

Finally some praise for Matt, it was only about 30 secs, but he did seem well suited to it, and a bit funny...

"I am am something important.....erm CRASHING!!!!!"
not the exact quote but a close idea

I thought it was great. It did run the risk of being self indulgent, but just managed to stay on the right side of it.

I'm excited to see Matt in the part.

It was surprisingly good. RTD easily could've messed that ending up.

Yeah, it was brilliant.

I loved the whole episode actually, even tho a lot of itwas what was rumoured, it still did the trick.

I really enjoyed that - was feeling all dismal at Ten's last words, but then couldn't stop grinning at Eleven. He looks like he will be great in the role.

I think that Matt smith did very well in the 30 seconds or so of footage.

That said, how anyone can say;

"hes raised the bar even further"

is beyond me, and quite puzzling.

No offense to the OP who said the above, but we've only seen 30-40 seconds of footage, and whilst it was good, we also need to remember that it was RTD who wrote that aspect of him. Who knows what Steven Moffatt will give or take from the character.

I'm definitely going to enjoy watching Matt Smith as The Doctor, as he seems to have kept the same mentality as Doc 10, which is one of, danger = fun times, plus he also has his own catchphrase, Geronimo

I was crying and then laughing. After worrying far too much about this I feel real relief. He'll still take a lot of getting used to, but, yeah, better than I could have hoped.

Very much looking forward to Matt Smith in the part, promising opening which made me laugh after I may, perhaps, possibly, have been shedding a few tears during the Dr's goodbyes

I think Moffat wrote all Matt Smith's dialogue - I remember reading that RTD was going to leave it to him to do what he wanted.

Not sure about Matt yet, but my judgement is reserved until the new series. What I ant to know is why didn't they show this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/newyear/ at the end?

Going to miss David Tennant's Doctor as IMO he was the best so far, but Matt Smith seemed to pull his first scene off quite well..

Yeah I agree.

All I can say is thank you Russell T Davies & Tennant. A very fitting goodbye, but also a very satisfying welcome to the new writer and doctor.

Am wishing it was spring / Dr Who season already lol.

Matt did beautifully in the what, minute he had. Cannot wait, he's going to be tremendous.

Why didn't they show the marvellous new trailer afterwards? What a strange thing to do.

I dont think RTD wrote anything about 11. He left that to Moffet.

"I'm a girl!"

Brilliant stuff, I wasn't actually looking forward to Matt Smith's arrival, but I'm quite looking forward to the new series now!
