Hahaha I thought exactly the same

Yeah I know what you mean, I hoped it went to Simm when CE was on way out

I was wondering if it would be ok to drool over someone who is a year younger than me.

Without backreading (I shall do that later), my honest reaction was FFS just regenerate.

As he was actually doing it I thought for a few seconds that he was just going to remain David Tennant Doctor, then I began wondering how he managed to explode to TARDIS when the was no previous example (AFAIK) of this.

Additionally, during, I was pondering how much more of a suck up there could be to DTs fans. We all knew he was going to leave. Hate it as some may suck up the fact that this is what DW is and don't give me months of teenybopper DT loving. Chris Eccleton was a better actor anyway.

*points up* They were my thought.

Post I was bummed there was no immediate Matt Smth preview, and then excited about a new era. Bring it on, I cannot wait!

I don't mind the fact that he was still like DT's doc after regeneration. He was full of life and was eccentric like the doctor should be i think he looks amazing as the new doctor

My "exact reaction" was that I thought it was excellent.

From tragedy to comedy in one short scene.

Very difficult to write, and very well-handled given the neurotic tendencies of the modern audience, I thought.

My exact reaction: No! David I love you! He just can't go... No... What? He's still here... Still... Ah finally. NOOO! MATT! Huh, he kinda looks like a piggy with his face all scrunched up like that. Aw bless 'im! Why doesn't he want tea like last time? Oh it's over! Nooo come back! Hang on, did 11 establish he's not a girl? Ah well, geranimo!

I really used to like Tennant, but this last year his over-acting has just gone through the roof (literally, tonight!). All I could think of was "Finally!" I wanted to like this episode, but it was too cheesy. I was even getting annoyed with Cribbins, that's not good.

And that last line "I don't wanna go"...I thought, ffs, it was your idea to leave! Just get on with it!

Yeah, it went on too long : )

I though poor David, after a great run as the Doctor what a bloody awful episode to end on.

Oh and will someone please tell Murray Gold that less is more...

I think they did but it didn't get through. Can't imagine why, perhaps a hearing problem?

I know, world's worst joke *hides*.

I just thought of something else though. Geronimo? I don't like the fact I have heard it from our new Doctor's lips twice now. I may have to kill him if I hear that too often!

I'm curious to this, either he learnt his lesson, or they've got a new composer in because from the 11th Doctor, the music style changed dramatically and it certainly wasn't as overpowering.

Hmm my first thought when he said he didn't want to go - shouldn't have resigned then... (I've been watching too much Harry Hill lol). But then a second later I was quite sad. I love DT as the Doctor and I'm going to miss him I just hope he does a lot of other things so I can still see him lol.

Sad to see the Daily-Mail-style-snide-carping on here.

Not even wannabees.

Just never-will-be-s, content in criticising rather than creating.

Yeah, sad to see people who take criticism of Doctor Who personally, and feel they have to personally insult people who didn't like this episode.

No, it's not really sad, j/k!

Well, I guess having the TARDIS suddenly go thermo-nuclear in the middle of the Powell Estate,
on New Years Day 2005, as The 10th Doctor regenerates before Rose Tyler has even had the
chance to meet the 9th Doctor would definitely mess up her timeline and cause a paradox.

I can imagine the scene . . .

The 10th Doctor staggers back to the TARDIS for the final time as the regeneration begins.

The Doctor:
"I don't wanna go!"

Moments later, the Doctor's most violent and destructive regeneration ever finally kicks in,
causing the inside of the TARDIS to burst into flames, and the windows to be blown out.

Jackie:
"What the hell was that noise?!? Sounded like an explosion!"

Rose:
"Mum ... there's something on fire outside, looks like an old phonebox."

Jackie:
"Probably kids setting fireworks off inside it. Y'know what they're like round here!"

Jackie looks out of her kitchen window, and witnesses the TARDIS ablaze.

Jackie:
"It's an old Police Box! That was never there before! And it's on fire!"

Rose gets her mobile phone out of her pocket.

Jackie:
"Rose, what ya doin' ?!?"

Rose:
"Callin' the fire brigade, whaddaya think I'm doin' ?!?"

The 11th Doctor:
"GERONIMOOOOOOOOO!!!"

tottaly gutted and wanted to cry when David said "I dont want to go..." but a big smile on my face when Matt started to speak. Its hard as it feels like the doctor is dead those he's not.

I think he looks like John Hurt in The Elephant Man.

I just thought how looked like a special FX gone wrong. Some people really shouldn't be on big HD tv screens.

While its nice that for once they don't have someone with model looks on TV, seeing someone so ugly is really jarring.

I spent the whole of the rest of the evening trying to find people on TV more ugly than him and failed. Even the behind the scenes crews on Confidential would fit the bill better.

Seriously did no-one see this guy before he got the job. I hoped I wouldn't dislike him too much having had most of a year to get used to his appearance but it still was a shock.

wow some charming posts here. The guy is far from ugly. Please post a picture of yourselves on here so we can compare.

Ten's last line really got me and I was all 'Then don't go!!'

When Matt appeared on the screen my initial thought was he's an odd looking fella, isn't he? and kind of surprised he was so manic, but laughed when he as trying to remember something important..oh! Crashing! Overall, just glad to see Eleven after all the build up.

The excitment of the new Doctor kind of balanced the sadness of the end of Ten.

To be honest it felt as though it wasn't going to come! Went on a bit too long for me did David's goodbye. I held my breath a bit though when he did regenerate if I'm honest. My missus joked that geeks all over the country had all suddenly stopped breathing!

Loved Matt's first scene though. Always difficult, but he did really well. Gutted no trailer after show, so quickly logged onto BBC website to see new trailer, and yep, he's fantastic. It's going to be a long four months...
