Why am I the only one?

Why am I the only person in the whole world, that thinks Dr. WHO is terrible?

I'm a huge sci-fi fan, and I think the idea of Dr. WHO is brilliant. I stopped watching ages ago because I thought it was so crummy, but decided to give the last two episodes a go, and I thought it was one of the worst things I'd ever seen!

I honestly can't see why so many people enjoy it so much. I think the plots are unoriginal and unimaginative and clearly written by someone who clearly has very little grasp of science fiction, the editing is abysmal - everything seems to get dragged out endlessly, the dialogue is equally uninspiring, the sets looks rubbish, and the acting is far from anything impressive.

When I see so many great sci-fi series out there, I find Dr. WHO embarrassing at best by comparison. What makes so many people watch?

Only one in the world? Really?

And you have polled everyone in the world to come to that conclusion? Or are you just being incredibly self centred?

You are absolutely allowed not to like DW. And I am sure you are not alone.

I like it because it doesn't take itself too seriously. I understand where you might be coming from, I'm a fan of BSG, Star Trek etc. but I can't put them on the same scale as Doctor Who, because it wouldn't work. To quote a Times article, 'this is a kids’ show, made in Wales, by gays, about a scorchingly hot pacific nerd travelling through time and space. That’s clearly the best show ever'.

No, you're not the only one.

It's just that most of the people who don't give a toss about the show steer clear of Doctor Who discussion forums in the same way I steer clear of the Soaps forum.

I suppose I could pop in there to tell them how silly they're being but it I take no pleasure in p1ssing on peoples' fireworks so I don't.

This.

Sorry you don't like it but many people do. We don't really need to explain our reasons as they wont change your views on it.

I don't like Big Brother. D'you know how many times I've posted on the Big Brother forum here? None. Cos I don't like it.

I can accept your opinion on the other stuff but the acting? Get out of here! It's top-notch.

But how would it be be a debate? You've already laid out your many, many problems with the show. It'd be like trying to explain to someone who hates sprouts that they taste really good.

You're just trolling for an argument, so why pretend otherwise?

I'm not sure what type of debate could arise given your opening post which clearly states that you hate everything about it.

The only constructive reply I could make would be fair enough, don't watch it then.

I feel the same way about Hollyoaks but I know better than to wander into a dedicated Hollyoaks forum and tell them why I hate it because the response would be predictable. As were those in this thread.

Rest assured, you are not the only one. Loads of people come in here trying to stir up a bit of a "pre-determined outcome by the OP debate" about Doctor Who. It's sad that that's how people get off in life. Poor little pup.

World population 6,793,796,112 as of today (aparently).

Are you really claiming that the other 6,793,796,111 love Doctor Who?

It's perhaps an interesting indicator that people here haven't got the intelligence to differentiate between a comment that is meant to be taken liteterally or not. Perhaps that's why Dr.Who appeals to you so much.

Carry on making pointless remarks. You're clearly no capable of answering a simple quesiton.

Seems you've determined your own outcome, since you clearly lack the wit or intelligence to actually try to answer my question. Then you attempt to sound all condecending. Pathetic.

Try answering my question, perhaps you'll find out!

I also asked why other people love it, but you and everyone else ignores that completely, and would rather just hurl childish and pointless remarks around.

Watch the girl in the fireplace for some of the finest examples of all of the above that you will get on British Television

Actually, it's not. This forum is a sub forum of Cult which is in the Entertainment section. TV Programs is a separate forum in the Entertainment section. It was specifically set up for fans of all things Doctor Who to discuss the programmes and related media.

You might as well have walked into a gay bar and stated reasons why you don't like homosexuals.

Not a good point to watch Dr Who IMO, and I'm a big Dr Who fan, The re-gen story was one of the worst ones shown, with DT and JS carrying a very weak story.

Give it another chance, Watch Blink or the Water story (forgot the name)

see at the top of the page it reads

Cult>Doctor Who and Torchwood

It's not connected to the tv programmes forum at all.

I am trying to get my brain around why anyone that hates Doctor Who would even come in here in the first places. I don't like football so I don't go to that forum and ask them if i'm the only one that doesn't like football. QED.

THat's funny, because I'd swear it says at the top of this page "Discuss all things Doctor Who right here!".

Funnily enough, no where does it say, "only comment here if you love Doctor WHO, and try you best to insult anyone who askes why".

Mad_Dude; I would have Said Blink or The Waters of Mars were the finest examples of it.
But who cares?
