Allons-y

Had never noticed DT saying that until him and the impersonator bloke from Next Doctor said it on either DW Confidential or the programme that followed, has he said it very often?

Posted it again as my previous thread seems knackered for some reason.

He's said it a number of times. Apparently it was first used in the Army of Ghosts episode.

Strange that i'd never noticed.

Prefer CE's "Fantastic" and his own "Brilliant".

I have to creep out of the realm of lurk to endorse it as a catch-phrase, albeit to my mind a late developing and rather forced one. It must be true - when I went to delete 'Confidential' from my V+ box last night (recorded it in case I couldn't watch it), instead of just asking whether you're sure you want to delete it, the text asks 'Are you sure you want to delete this programme: allons-y?'.

DT has used 'allon-sy' constantly since 'Voyage of the Damned' , in which he had the classic 'Allon-sy Alonso!" line. His first usage of it though was way back in 'Army of Ghosts' .

Before that it was 'brilliant' he said a lot, and of course the 9th Doctor had 'fantastic'.

Looks like Matt Smith's is going to be:

Edit: @cika - yesterday's confidential's title was actually 'allon-sy'

So it was - I never notice Confidential's titles! Rats, and I thought someone at Virgin had developed a sense of humour. Should've known better. 'Allons-y', btw - 'let's go' - not 'allon-sy'.

It was, though, a late-starting and to me rather artificial sounding catch-phrase (although a bit more imaginative than 'fantastic') and I wouldn't be at all surprised if RTD hadn't brought it in in the first place specifically because he had it in mind to call a character Alonso later on, bearing in mind how much he loves his story arcs.

Sorry I only got 3 hours of sleep.

Virgin? Sense of humour?

I expect that now, "Allons-y Alonso" is going to be Jack's catch-phrase.
