Thumbnails on an external hard drive?
Jonboy59

Apologies for duplicating my earlier thread which doesn't appear to have posted correctly

I have successfully transferred numerous recordings to an external hard drive, but the associated thumbnails have never transferred across, or been created overnight (as on the main hard drive).
It would be really useful to see these against the relevant recordings - has anyone else managed to 'create' these on an external drive?

As far as I'm aware this isn't possible, I do agree it would be handy.

Thanks GaseousClay.

The only thing I can think of is to leave the HDR on overnight (not on standby) so that the external drive is powererd on. I will then choose the external drive and leave it on in the main media list in the hope that any programme running overnight on the HDR to create the thumbnails might do so on the external drive. It's a bit of along shot, but you never know.

I think the only problem with that, is that the foxsat doesn't perform it's housekeeping if left on and so the thumbnails won't get generated.

Thanks GaseousClay.

On reflection I think you're right. Sounds like we'll just have to live with it. At least the external hard drive system now works, which has been a really big plus for me.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
