Hi,

Anyone offer some personal experiences of various boxes to receive the satellite digitasl radio channels?

I heard the Nokia 9800S is one of the best, any opinions?

I don;t know what a CAM? does is it needed to receive some of the digital channels from Europe.

Thanks for reading..

Mike.

99.9% of FTA digital satellite receivers won't ever be able to pick up scrambled (encrypted) channels. A CAM is basically a mini decoder that goes into a Common Interface (CI) slot of a receiver that enables reception of Pay TV and radio services. FTA receivers don't have a CI slot.

If you just want FTA, after all most radio stations are free, Humax Fox is regarded as an excellent receiver and is about £150 if you shop around. The cheapest receiver I think you'll find is the Botech Star1 which is available from www.bradleywood.co.uk - this is just under £100.

Thanks Skip,

I did see some of these in a local shop, they too were reccommended by the owner, but you know he could be biased?

The idea is really just to replace my FM Tuner and get rid of all the local grizzles from heating switches etc on BBC radio.
