Sorry to shout but flaming hell. The 'i dont like matt' threads have startd already. Give the guy a chance. We havent even seen his first episode yet.
Hands up who thought they'd hate David when he took over from Chris? Yeah loads. And Freema after Billie? What about the abuse RTD received when he announced that Catherine Tate was a guest star,,then a full companion!! And look how that turned out. We loved Donna and still do (so sorry the last 2 specials were Donna-lite)
We Brits love to moan. Lets just rejoice that we have a home grown series we love and the BBC is happy to finance and recomission.

I said i wouldn't like Freema after Billie and i really didn't like her lol but i agree with David taking over from Chris. I think people are worried because David Tennant has just been so brilliant for the show, he took it to a much higher level than Chris and it did seem at times like the role was just written for him and he will probably now go down as the best Doctor in the history of the show and rightly so he has been superb, i'm going to give Matt a chance because you never know what he will be like until his first episode but i havea gut feeling he isn't go to be as good as David Tennant but that is just because David Tennant set the standard at a very high level, but that doesn't mean Matt will not be a good Doctor just not as good as Tennants Doctor if you get what i mean lol

People who are already criticising Matt are just stupid imo. They've got no basis for their opinions at all. If they don't like him even after one episode then fair enough, they've got some reason (scant though it may be). But to judge him now ... after nothing more than a humorous cameo at the end of TEoT ... is just pathetic I think.

I think for many they forget this entire show is based on Change..and dont really like it when it comes.

IMO I think a lot of people are freaked out both the boss and the star left the show at the same time.

People just need to keep an open mind (the next few months are going to fly past) and then decide if you still like the show and ofc the Star.

Ive loved Dt's time as the doctor but I was really fedup we only got 4 specials this year DW needs a proper series anything else isnt good enough.

DT wasnt sacked it was his choice to leave the show and as a fan I respect that.

MS looks and sounds really good in the trailer and some kickarse stories coming up what else can you ask for on a saturday night?

Last night's "Confidential" rightly put the emphasis on DT's departure but we also got to see a bit of Matt on set and heading out from his trailer, where to me he came across as confident and comfortable with what he's taken on. I'm sure he knows he'll face detractors both now and when the eps start to air, but I suspect he's the type who will cope with it without being arrogant enough to feel he is above the show and dismiss fans' views altogether.

Im guessing Get ready for a whole load of 'leaks' quite soon..The Beeb know DT was much loved.

CE only did one series DT really has been on the show since it came back.

RTD has every confidence in Moffat for fighting so many years to get DW back I doubt very much either of them want the show to fold after someone leaves.

I still say it was a clever ploy the 4 specials...less of DT to compare when they knew he was Quitting.

If I recall (I'm not sure about DS forums, but certainly elsewhere) David Tennant received a great deal of criticism and scepticism when he first became the Doctor. Judging by the overkill that DT got on BBC One this Christmas, it's fair to say that he proved many of those doubters wrong.

Who's to say Matt Smith won't be just as good, or as popular? Anybody who is judging his Doctor on the basis of one minute is foolish. Judge him at the end of series 5, when he's had a chance to show what he is capable of.
