So, a New Year and a New Survivor.

Will any of the new episodes beat last years winner, The Family of Blood? Or will it triumph for a second time?

Voting in the Survivor itself will open on Monday but before that there's the Prediction Part of the game to launch.

If you haven't read or played in any of the Survivor threads before, it's a bit like Big Brother, with people voting to evict their least favourite episodes over a succession of rounds. Eventually, of course, we end up with a winner.

Before that begins you can have an extra bit of fun by chosing to play in one or both of the Prediction Games linked to this Survivor.

Below you will find all of the New Who episodes transmitted so far. These have been broken up into five groups, comprising the four season blocks of 13 episodes plus a block entitled "Specials" which comprises the 4 episodes shown during 2009 plus the Christmas episodes from the previous years.

As I mentioned there are two Prediction Games for you to get your teeth into this time around.

GAME ONE:

Predict which of the 60 episodes listed below will finish in the Top Ten of this game. You should remember that you are trying to gauge what fan opinion of the various episodes might be like rather than just sending in a list of your Top Ten favourite episodes.

To help you a list of the results for last years Survivor appears towards the bottom of this post.

All Predictions are secret and should be sent to me via PM, not posted on this thread

GAME TWO:

Cast your eye over each of the five blocks (Seasons 1 - 4 and Specials) listed below. Predict which episode will Survive the longest in each of the blocks. You should therefore have 5 episodes listed, one from each block.

As with Game One all Predictions are secret and should be sent to me via PM, not posted on this thread

To give you a quick taster of "The Story So Far" the lovely Muttley76 has provided you with another of her brill videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE9en5CkM9Q

And finally, just before I list the "runners and riders" and last years results here's a little question that you can reply to on this thread:-

Q: Last year Fear Her and Love And Monsters were rated the least popular episodes in the Survivor Game with both of them being evicted in joint bottom place.
Which episode or episodes (you can list a maximum of two) do you think people dislike enough to vote out into bottom place

Now that that's done and dusted here are the episode lists and the results list for last year's Survivor.

Regarding the question...

Fear Her and Planet of the Dead

Aww, no Time Crash. I know, it's only a few minutes long so doesn't really deserve to be there- but I bet it wouldn't have been first out!

Time Crash is great, but personally I think if you include that you have to include the other CIN special, and then The Infinite Quest, and then Dreamland....where do you draw the line? So overall I think it's right it's not included.

The Next Doctor and Love and Monsters would be my bet.

I think it will be the same as last year too, Fear Her and Love & Monsters, although the latter has been growing on my recently.

p.s. Glad to see DW episodes Survivor back, nothing like the original imo.

Well, you may get a double dose of it this year. I could re-run it after we've seen Matt's first block of episodes or it could wait until 2011 when the Christmas Special will have been transmitted.

I'm inclined to agree, I think Love & Monsters is a very love/hate thing.

I sometimes feel that I'm the only person who likes Love and Monsters

Nah, it definitly has it supporters. I think it's under rated. I don't rate Peter Kay at all, but the rest of it I like. Elton Pope is brilliant, and his speech ("when your a kid etc") at the end is my very favorite nu who moment.

The idea was an interesting one, and Elton is great (though the other characters weren't that engaging), but there are so many things in that episode I hate that I just can't forgive it. A good idea poorly executed I think.

I could perhaps have tolerated the bad jokes, dragging plot and horrible absorbaloff- but then there was the paving slab...

I think the bottom two this time will be the same as before.

Fear Her and Planet of the Dead. Plus the fact we had to wait another 6 months after PotD before the excellent Waters of Mars!

I'll say Fear Her and The Idiot's Lantern.

Poor little Fear Her. I think I am its only fan. I love the smallscaleness of it, and think it's a real breath of fresh air among all the "CGI armies at world heritage sites" that take over DW these days.

I sort of agree with that. Whilst I don't think Fear Her is brilliant I don't think it's quite as bad as people seem to think it is. I see it as more as an average type of episode and, in scripting terms, there are a number of episodes I'm rank lower than it.

I'm a fan of Fear Her. I love the little comical moments throughout the episode, even though it's a dark back story. It's a shame more people don't like it. I just picked it because it seems to unpopular with everyone else.

For me i am afraid it's one of only two nu who stories without a single redeeming feature to it. Sorry.

The only episode that I truly dislike entirely is The Idiot's Lantern. But most people don't like Fear Her and Love & Monsters, hence my prediction.
I admit that I don't like those two episodes either, but there are some moments that I like in them nonetheless : the Benny Hill like pursuit or the scene at the launderette for Love & Monsters, and I like the theme in Fear Her and also the very very cheesy scene when the Doctor lights the Olympic flame

I think Fear Her suffers because the 'next time' trailer actually made it look quite interesting.

I'm guess Planet of the Dead as worst, just because it's still so prominent in the memory. I can't be bothered with private winner predictions, but will be voting.

Funnily enought Peter Kay is the only thing I don't like about L&M
