After the latest ITV debacle regarding their HD coverage of the football on 2/1/10 resulting in factory resets needed on Humax FoxSat HDR.........isn't it time something was done about this?????

Perhaps Freesat themselves need to bang heads together ..........ITV could help by not mucking up their HD coverage so regularly and Humax could issue a fix........?!

How many boxes are being returned to retailers every time this happens ??.............. not everyone reads these forums and knows what to do each time .......... and even if you do losing your schedule each time and having to retune and apply some other settings is a pain in the backside

As the problem also affected SkyHD boxes which Humax do not make - you can hardly blame Humax.

You should not have needed a reset it was entirely ITV 1 HD's debacle and nothing whatosever to do with Humax and/or Freesat (all they are responsible for is the epg and nothing else)

There's no SKY HD users or Panasonic TV owner's complaining their boxes need resets.................I think you've missed my point ...........this IS a Humax issue as it's only the HDR that seems to need a reset when ITV HD goes tits up.......................the main issue is ITV here,I agree.....but Humax are culpable!

This post illustrates my point rather well

I hope you've now seen all the other HDR owners posts who've needed resets in the last day..........plenty on a joinfreesat.co.uk comment thread too!

For those saying that they didn't need to reset their boxes were you watching the game yesterday when ITV faulted. Could the crash have disrupted the stb?

I would not expect you to have any............

............... I little bit of history to explain my annoyance......... yesterday (Sat)about 20 mins into the game ITV HD goes blank ..... I assume it's the usual problem so do a factory reset .... however the problems at ITV continue til end of the game

The games today (so far OK)...........

the issue here is that you would have to have been watching the Liverpool game at the 20 min mark on an HDR to be needing a reset today ...........

Has anyone watching at 20 mins into the Liverpool game on an HDR yesterday NOT needed a factory reset today to see today's games????

Yes, I had to do a factory reset on my Humax after watching the Liverpool game. 20 mins in the screen went blank and I couldn't get HD again that day or the next until a factory reset.

No reset needed here. I just tried to watch again later towards the end of the match, saw that it was upscaled.

I was watching the Liverpool game and my screen went blank, I just used the channel down button to go down to BBC2, then went back to ITV and then back on to ITV HD, same thing happened again so I done the same only this time I didn't bother going on to ITV HD, I just watched the rest of the game in SD.

I watched both games Sunday on ITV HD with no problems or need to do a reset but I noticed the pq was not too brilliant, was Sunday's games upscaled?

I was watching. I simply pressed the Blue Button and went over to SD. After a minute (about all I could stand of SD at that quality), I repressed the red button and got ITV HD back no problem.

No reset needed.

All I did was dial up 103 and non HD ITV came up I gave it 5 minutes and pressed the red button again, It happened 3 times during the game and yes it was a pain but I just switched back with no problems each time

My dad has had the same problem with his freesat box, only on ITV HD.

Funnily enough we were keep trying it to come on in HD while the Liverpool game was on because it all went wrong. Since then he could only get sound on ITV HD when he pressed the red button.

Resetting to Factory defaults fixed it.

Anyone have any problems with Pierce Morgan programme last night.

Tried to record it in HD but checked half way through the programme and it was just a black screen and the recording had got stuck.

I also couldn't watch any of the ITV football in HD at the beginning of the year.

Do i need to do a factory reset as some are suggesting ? or is it just a case of waiting for ITV to fix the problems ?

I made a suggestion in another thread that anyone having these problems with ITV HD could try disabling the 'MHEG Test' option in the diagnostics secret menu and then re-enabling it. If this works it could do away with doing factory resets and thus users wouldn't have to re-enter all of their programme schedules again nor perform a freesat rescan and non-freesat rescan.
If you could try this and let us know how it went, it would be of great benefit to other users.
Failing this a factory reset should return the ITV HD function on the red button.

How do i get to the secret menu ? (or is it just too secret to disclose.)

Press menu and then scroll down to 'system' and then across to 'diagnostics' press 'ok'. Now press red green yellow blue green yellow blue, ignore the no-entry icon onscreen the secret menu will appear on completion of the colour button sequence.
Beware that some of the options will reformat your hdd without offering a chance to decline, so don't be tempted to have a curious peek..

Ok, thanks for that gaseous.

I disabled it, then rebooted, then enabled it again, then rebooted again.

Just have to wait for the football tonight to see if it worked.

Nope that didn't work so had to watch the footy in glorious ITV SD

On the plus side Liverpool lost.
(reckon its the end of the road for benitez)

Can someone confirm, if i do a factory rest, I lose the schedule but not programmes already recorded ? is that correct ?

Cheers

Could it have been a transmission drop out due to the weather?

I recorded it last night and got a perfect recording. I am on a large dish though (85cm) and thus extremely weather resistant.

Sd was terrible again tonight. Slightest movement and the pitch was just a blur. Loads of aretfacts showing as well.

On the flip side, I thought the HD was quite good. Could have been better, but a lot better than the last time the SD was pants when the HD was also.

Re the factory reset, you don't lose your recordings only the schedule.

That's a shame, could have save a lot of aggro. Thanks for the feedback.

As White-Knight says, recordings remain intact, schedules need re-entering. Other preferences will need resetting i.e V Format and picture aspect, also the volume defaults to 50% so will need cranking up via remote.
