Did a factory reset last night and that seems to have cured the problem. ITV HD is working again.

Come on Bob Cat a comment here would be appreciated............. can this be fixed by Humax ? ............... I do realise that ITV are mostly at fault here but it would be nice if the problem was easier to sort out each time!

Is it absolutely certain that the Foxsat needs resetting if it gets this problem with ITV HD? Reading the user reports here and elsewhere gives a confusing picture. Being ever graceful under fire from rogue broadcast streams is one ideal which Humax should aim for.

Since owning my Foxsat for over a year both pre and post the major firmware update, I can attest that it is absolutely certain that factory resetting the box not only works but is essential to fix this particular problem. I have had to do this 4 or 5 times (can't remember exactly) during ownership so far.

It would be useful if ITV would stop being such a cheapskate and pay for a proper ITV1 HD channel slot and get away from this stupid red button nonsense!

But others have said that they did not need to do a reset and got ITV HD back. I am wondering if the re setters have just been seeing it seem to work as a coincidence.

Then I would argue that they never really lost it totally... (they just thought they had; possibly because of some interaction issue on their particular physical setup)

When a complete blackout such as you described for ITV1 HD occurs, only a factory reset will get it back.

It's not that simple, there is simply no space on Astra2D for ITV 1 HD. Transmission from 2D is essential to satisfy the programme makers drm policies. They only get away with it on the Eurobird 1 wide beam because of the red button fix.

As you have no way of knowing for sure what others have experienced then it is still open to question.

True, I don't. However, since this was an issue that was winding me up at the time, I took a keen interest and trawled most forum messages for any mention of it (including on hummy.org also) and my own estimate/assertion would be based on around a ratio of 80%/20% in favour of, those for whom a factory reset was a first time fix (and subsequently for repeat occurences).

I feel that that is pretty high odds for the fickle finger of fate to be pointing at the Foxsat itself...

The other possibility is that there are at least two different issues relating to ITV HD one of which is nowt to do with Humax and another one which is.

I've decided to really push my luck tonight and see if, with the new software, the HDR will now record from ITV1 in SD, switch to HD and record then finally back to SD record straight after (without changing channels) and see what happens! gulp...
