  • Doctor Who
Do you think series 5 will have an episode where

it strays away from the usual Doctor Who episode you had 'Blink' where it was an unuasual story and it is all about a women and hardly see the doctor. 'Love and Monsters' where it was about a group hunting the doctor and you hardly see the doctor again. And you have 'Midnight' where it is all set on a little train/bus and has an usual story for Who.

I was just thinking these episodes are normally very good and i was just thinking if we would have one this year

Probably as those sort of episodes which are called Doctor lite episodes are because episodes are double banked meaning that two episodes are filmed at the same time and series 4 has a companion lite episode with Midnight.

Midnight wasn't Doctor-lite, it was Donna-lite.

"Turn Left" was the Doctor-lite episode in season 4.

Series 1 didn't have a "lite" episode in it. That may be because they were new to production and didn't know it would ease the pressure on the lead actors, or it may be because they felt with a new Doctor and companion to establish it was important to have them play a major part in each episode.

If it was the second reason then they may avoid it again this time out.

in season 1, they introduced adam in 'the long game' to ease the demands on ecclestone/ piper, and also had the one where he spends the episode in a restaurant with the slitheen mayor (!? wtf?) as a 'less demanding to film' episode as well. The change to having a 'dr-lite' epiode in season 2 was becaise the filming schedule increased from 13 episodes for season 1 to 14 for the subsequent seasons (as they also included filming of the xmas specials)
