But the Doctor already had a set number of visits with her, on the last arriving after she had died when he spoke with a gentleman whose relation to Reinette I can't recall.
So if he had arrived at any point between the visits he had already made then he would have crossed his own timeline which he had always claimed is bad.
Turning up to the granddaughter of a past "love" doesn't affect what has already gone.

If he was suggesting that, wouldn't that imply that she was sleeping with David Tennant and that he wrote all the good scenes, beccause women are incapable of being good writers who just happen to have some time off to raise 3 children??

I suppose he could have turned up at another time before he jumped into the party on a horse, provided he could pretend he was still moving between time periods on that spaceship- I don't think she knew how many times she'd see him (? may be remembering wrong), only that he would turn up and save her when she needed him to.
I didn't like the whole goodbye to everyone thing to be honest, but since it was done, Reinette probably should have been at least mentioned.
