Wasn't that 'warning' deleted as it was quite clearly a personal attack on members of this forum?

Having big-upped Tovey as a possible new Doctor, RTD was presumably offering the actor consolation in the form of some rough trade, sorry, romance with Captain Jack.

"Rough trade" implies that one of the people is straight, or is pretending to be. That's hardly the case for either of the actors or the characters.

As I recall, Midshipman Frame was a popular choice for the Doctor's new companion. Also, as has been noted, RTD has a high opinion of Russell Tovey.
Tovey has proved himself in several productions to be an engaging and talented actor, and if he were to join Torchwood, I for one would be thrilled.

Evidence for this? Did they poll the several million people that watch the show?

Why wouild he give up on the Werewolf thing (an adult drama) to join Dr Who (a kids show)?

Also why would he move from one scifi style show (which has been critically acclaimed) to another one, Torchwood (which apart from its last miniseries has been critically panned)?

Personally I feel he is a bit too 'light' and rather uninteresting.

Ahhh but how long is Being Human going to go on for? If it's ending after S2 then Rt is gonna need some work isn't he? TW seems a good place to go. And Torchwood wasn't critically panned (not all the time anyway, some episodes yes) before S3, but a lot of people called S1 and 2 rubbish after CoE.

One doesn't have to "give up" a role on one show to be on another, especially if one is a supporting role. It all depends on shooting schedules and how much they want you.

Tovey is already set to star in another BBC 3 show this year, Young, Unemployed and Lazy.

Tingrametro, Kappellmeister - do you actually hate "Dr Who"?

NewbieC - will you actually listen to their answer and have the courtesy not to make such accusations about them in future?”

I don't: I've been a fan-and, indeed, a rather obsessive one-for thirty five years now, which is why I keep watching it. I'm simply disillusioned by RTD's writing and the direction he's taken the show in, and tend to get frustrated by the fact that he misses what I see as opportunities to make it better (and more like the show I grew up with). If I'm negative, it's because of disappointment, not hatred. But I have faith in Steven Moffat's ability to make it better.

Thanks for responding Tigramretro

That should clear up any confusion with NewbieCanuck and stop the accusations of "hatred" etc.

I wouldn't count on that...

No. If I did I wouldn't watch it and I wouldn't be looking forward to seeing the news series so much. I have been disappointed with certain things that Davies has introduced though (and I've been consistently annoyed with Gold's overbearing music).

Unfortunately for some people on here 'cricitism' equals 'hate'

Did I think 'End of Time' was utter drivel? Yes.

Do I hate Dr Who? No.

I didn't get the impression that she was sexually active.........though a night with Jack might thaw her icy personality a little

You forgot e) is gay/bisexual

I don't remember Alonso mentioning this in VotD, so quite why Ten is thrusting him in CJ's direction is anyone's guess.

Well if the character is a woman she doesn't need to be gay or bisexual. Jack actually has "enhanced pheromones" - Ianto didn't consider himself gay or bisexual before meeting Jack.

But as for Alonso, we just have to assume that the Doctor has really good gaydar or that bisexuality is more common on Sto than on Earth, or that Mr Copper is a big ol' gossip - which wouldn't surprise me a bit.

And taliesin I agree that she didn't seem a very good option. I guess either or both of the Vinvocci would have been a good option if Russell Tovey was unavailable. I'd just hope their bodies aren't as prickly as their heads.

Like the old riddle - how does a porcupine make love? Very carefully.

Had the Captain Gotten off with the Vinvocci he'd have been spoiled for choice as to which prick to ride first

Give me MS any day to this chap..I really dont like his character in Being Human.
he reminds me of a 21st Century Norman Wisdom for some reason.
