Leading on from my topic about 'dropping' the daleks for a season. Why not do this and bring back classics like the sea devils, silurians, ice warriors, you get the drift. Think of the parents who would reminice about them a good two parter would be one with Dinosaurs. The effects are there.

Personally I think I'd refuse to watch one with spiders in! lol

The reason (or suggested reason) why the Daleks are in every season relates to alledged agreement made by the BBC and the Terry Nation Estate (part owners of the Dalek creation) in 2004 that they would appear in each of the new series. Not sure if this is actually the case but it could be likely.

The Daleks themselves are also a huge money spinner for the BBC and the Terry Nation Estate (moreso than any other monster) and this is probably a very good reason to include them.

As for other monsters returning, then I think if you search the internet and indeed watch the trailer for the new series, you should keep your eyes peeled, but dont blink.......

There is one very recoginisabe returning monster (and I dont mean the Daleks who are there as well), but also what appears to be a race of reptiles who just could be related to one or two of the creatures you have mentioned above.

I think the Daleks are only getting one episode and it is within the first three episodes so not a big one like the others have been.

Would love to see the Ice Warriors come back, but only if they aren't mucked about with (cf Cybermen)

Agreed...the reinventing of the Cybermen in the parallel universe really annoyed me. They looked impressive and it wasn't a bad story but I don't see why we couldn't have had the original Cybermen return

But which count as the original Cybermen? Lilting voices and no emotions or hands on hips exclaiming 'excellent'?

What episodes were they in I have seen very little of the classic series.

When they switch to colour, they seem to undergo a complete personality transplant. Typical of the swaggering sort (if you'll forgive the added comedy Bill n Ted riff):

But here are the originals, quite different and purely logical:
