Never having been a fan previously, I really warmed to James on the second SCD tour when he danced with Cherie. They danced beautifully together, and he was so protective of her in his comments to the judges and audience. A perfect gent

Wotcher langwidge, mate. This is a "discursive forum" and personal remarks like yours using words like "repulsive" belong more on POV.
James is no hypocrite. There was a huge and unnecessary barney kicked up over the JS scandalgate mainly pushed by a certain tabloid and a couple of excessive squeakers on the BBC Message Boards.
Why don't we just watch the dancing, when it comes, and comment on that?

Not sure really, maybe a few comments he made didn't go down too well. I have liked him since he joined back in Series 4 and he is one of my favourite pro's. I would love to see him get to the final but i don't think that will happen this year.
I think he is going to get more popular this year, judging by the training video.
He seems very happy with Pamela - loved the little tongue in the side of his mouth after she did a move, as if to say "Did you see that?"

c'mon harsh on Chris Hollins (and get his name right if you're going to diss the guy). He's a bit like Mr Darcy in my book in that he made a bad first impression and is now trying to atone for it - half a result of living and learning and half just being misunderstood. I don't agree with what he said about JS but I do understand his POV and if it's the second year you've been eliminated at the expense of someone whom was a lot less talented than your celeb and the only time it didn't happen to you it did to your wife then I understand how that grates - he also admitted at the time of the JS affair that Ola didn't agree with him which I thought was honest.

Me neither. Two things can change a person's personality; a serious brain injury or 10 years of psycotherapy, I don't believe he has had either! Leopards and spots and all that!

I dont think he had to change as a person, or personality, just had to accept that it wasn't a dance competition, but a dance/popularity contest, which he seems to have done.

I agree, i've had to do it aswell so i know it can be done
I would love James to win as I have always liked him but it isn't very likely as his partner is 60 years old.
He was an excellent presenter last year and I hope he does more of that.

I loved Chris last year, was a favourite from his first dance. I never vote for the best dancer always the most entertaining, although I voted for the last three champions. It's James who whined about people not voting for the best dancers. I don't understand his point of view, if he wants into a competition based purely on dance he should go back to professional competition.
The thing that really bugged me is James only said anything when he was on the receiving end. Did he complain when better dancers partnered by other professionals were on the receiving end? No.

The dictionary definition of hypocrite is:

Well why should he? He's not there to be a spokesperson for other professionals, they've all got mouths to say whatever they wish! it's their choice if they want to comment or not.
And it wasn't your use of hypocrite that was being complained about, it was the adjective 'repulsive', which is frankly rude when in reference to someone you know, let alone someone you don't.

I find him repulsive, it's the best adjective I can find to describe how I feel watching him on my TV. He may be Prince Charming in real life but it's not my place to comment on that, it is my place to comment on how I feel watching him on Strictly.

Please provide an example of him being self-opinionated. There's nothing wrong with giving an opinion and defending it, and he has retracted several comments when later proven wrong, which he's also entirely entitled to do.
I can understand people disliking him if there is some foundation for it, but I don't think there's any foundation whatsoever for a claim that he 'would eat himself if he were chocolate'!

Some people just dislike other people without having a reason - as I have found out over the years on this forum. Its not something to worry about.
