Why do women wear things with button detailing on?

I don't mean things like blouses or cardigans where buttons are done up but where they have no use apart from 'decorative'.

I'm not keen on buttons at the best of times but button detail clothing is tacky.

Perhaps they think differently to you, and don't think it's "tacky"?
