The Darkness
Scissor Sisters

I remember Darkness being played every damn day on the radio and now...nothing, people also commenting on how they'll be as big as Queen.

well they did officially split didn't they?

i thought this thread was more about bands or artists who didn't split or retire from music but who just disappeared without being heard of ever again...

Anyone remember Sigue Sigue Sputnik?

They were meant to be the next big thing in the mid Eighties, I don't think they ever did make it tho'. Loads of media hype, but no-one fell for it.

Shoot it up....
Shoot it up....
pmsl!

Just reminded me of another band - KLF
They were a little bit better, not much tho'.

Also The Shamen were big for a while, 'Move any Mountain' and 'Ebeneezer Goode' come to mind.

Outkast

I had completely forgot about them until they started cropping up on the best of decade lists

Justin Timberlake

It seems like he's been around forever but he's only made 2 albums , the last one being in 2006 , he seems to be more famous for his cameo appearances nowadays

Whatever happened to Mylo?

Destroy Rock & Roll was such a great album, but it feels like a lifetime ago now.

musicians like fashion are disposable, its so cheap, also people aren't as loyal nowadays - no matter how much you like an artist if there 2nd albums aren't any good people won't buy.

Stephen Jones and Babybird are still around, just about to release a new album in February called Ex-Maniac.

The band are now a 3 piece but they will be joined on the new album by long term fan Johnny Depp

Thank god for that, I hope they never return. Didn't think much of The Darkness either.

Yet the Stereophonics play bigger venues than ever before.

Were EMF ever considered a 'big thing'? They were Unbelievable.

Avril Lavigne seems to have disappeared of late.

My nephew is a massive Green Day fan and he`s staying here at moment (unable to get home..weather). He`s having a go at me too.

I STILL stand by Bryan Adams (`11 `was hardly a classic...IMHO He`s not done much of interest since he moved to the UK.)

U2 (Even with the BBC backing them they havn`t had a decent hit from NLOTH)

Here`s somemore to think about...

Most of Band Aid 20 (Busted, Ms Dynamite, Joss Stone, Dido,

Supergrass
ASH
Lisa Stansfield

I'm not sure Ash were ever huge and they never really declined that much either. Last tour they did they played the same venues as they did at their peak.

Joss Stone and Dido certainly waned fairly quickly though.

They split up, so can't really be included.
