Just a little warning about the news about the new format. The split house format was not taken very well in last year's Australian BB3 (well... to begin with).

The houses were pretty much identical and mirrored each other so they could be easily be joined up together later on. They were labelled the 'square' and 'round' house... the furniture in each fitted the name.

Viewers got really annoyed at keeping track of who was where - mainly because half of the housemates were denied entry on the first night (they were let in slowly throughout the first week). The nightly shows were constantly having to tell everyone where the camera was looking, there was two totally different feeds to keep track of etc... it was a big annoyance.

Even after the houses were joined it meant the architecure(sp) of the house was totally weird... housemates had to go outside to get to the kitchen, and the house swimming pool was in the middle of the complex.

I have been wondering how we'd get on with watching BB if they did indeed have two houses! I have to say I worry what will happen if they do, although quite a good idea, it's bad enough watching one live feed with long sound gaps and lots of chicken shots so having to keep track of two seperate houses would be very annoying!

If BBUK does go with this format im totally confused as to how it would work, as vibes stated they would constantly be having to identify which house we were looking at.

Also our house(s) are in different locations from what I've heard - one in Elstree, one in Sussex and even if that is false, how could they split our Elstree house into two???

Aaah I'm confusing myself already!

Hrm at least you guys aren't having the "Head of Household" system like we're rumoured to this year

The rumoued date is the 25th of April - but no one knows for sure. Channel 10 has been really secretive because their whole stance this year is "back to basics" (because the split houses confused everyone last year).

So far we know that the Brazillian, Romanian and Swedish Big Brothers have recorded 'welcoming' videos for the Aussie housemates.

Also this year hopefully we will get a 24/hour Free to air (you guys call it terrestrial :-P) big bro digital channel. The last 3 years we've never had one.

And Oz big bro goes for ~85 days, rather than 64.

I think the split house could work. On interactive you can choose between two feeds, you could choose the house you want to watch. If they were to decorate one house in, say, red and the other blue it shouldn't be too confusing as to which one you was watching. It wouldn't be a lot different to the rich and poor side of BB3

I think the main problem with the Aussie format was the staggered format and some uncertainty in the early nomination procedure.

In principle a two house format would work well, but you've got to have a clear nomination/eviction process and ensure neither house can communicate with each other in anyway, with a fixed date for merger. (It'd say start with 7 HMs in each, and merge after 4 evictions, leaving 10 HMs in the merged house)

This idea could also be repeated. One house could be filled with the ex-s of those in the other - making merger very interesting! Another possibility is to split couples up between the two houses.
