Do women mash up quicker than men?

In recent months I have seen two girls that I was at college and Uni with.

Now... the first girl I saw, I thought it was her mum because she had more wrinkles than I would expect but... then I did the maths and realised - WOW! it was her. I do remember her having fair skin and looking youthful just a few years ago but the transformation was strange...

Then just last week I saw one girl who was always smiley and nice to look at when we were at College but I just saw her the other day and she was frumpy looking, not smiley at all and had lost her glow completely. I was actually quite upset to see this because she always seemed bright and wholesome at College but now she's really a shadow of what she was.

On the other hand, myself, I have blossomed into an Adonis of sorts. I was an Adonis back then but I am now an Adonis on steroids. - what I mean is I have found men don't age as badly as women.

Do women lose their looks quicker than men? What is your experience. When I think about it, this is a common theme I have seen amongst most women up and down the country.

To really put a twist on matters, I have noticed women of different nationalities age differently. I've noticed some Asian (Indian and Oriental) keep their looks for longer than Western women and the same can be said for Afro-Carribean women, who don't appear ages until later in life.

So - two women that you have spent a considerable amount of time with are now depressed and withered?

No

I only knew them from School/College. I only saw them probably 5 times a year to once a year.

I don't think 2 counts as a representative sample.

There are others I have seen over time as well. I should add that to the first post.

Regardless of turning this into a little project, what is your experience?

"An Adonis, of sorts".

That doesn't actually sound as promising as you'd think, to be honest.

There is a side effect of wanting mash as you grow older.

I liked mash as a kid, it's not purely an adult thing.

Blame the OP.

How long was it since you last saw these women? If its years then obviously no one will look exactly the same as they did the last time you saw them. Some people age well, some don't. Genetics, smoking, drinking, diet, your whole lifestyle plays a part.

You just don't know of the complex usages available for the word.

I am cultured.

There is some truth in that...very generally speaking.

I am convinced it has something to do with the amount of melanin pigment produced, which has an effect on skin elasticity...just don't ask me to prove it!

Hooray!

You win an award for being the first person to take what I said seriously.

I do mean this sincerely when I saw I have noticed a difference amongst cultured and women and men. They do say men get better looking as they grow older and considering this was from women I felt, maybe, women found they lost their looks quicker.

So alongside the need to wear warpaint I felt women knew they lost their looks more so and needed to exercise more and watch the way they looked more too.

If we got more feedback from women, it could be useful. Maybe if the thread got moved to "Fashion and Beauty" instead.

Well the second girl I mention in the thread appeared alone (although she was dead good looking at the time and still had her looks) but at the time was dating somebody and had a lot of interest too.

Maybe all that interest had now gone.

Thanks for the award

Regarding the male/female aging, in my opinion that has more to do with how we perceive men vs women, as well as the fact that men don't wear war paint so seem to grow into their wrinkles gradually.

But those upper lip wrinkles come to mind, when discussing different races and how they age...it's mostly a white phenomena for some reason and one of the reasons I link it to melanin...you can't blame those on diet or exercise, smoking maybe!

One thing tho...women who are pleasantly plump seem to have some of the best faces (skin-wise) ever, so working out may do wonders for everything else but it also sucks the fat out of your cheeks and messes with the elasticity of your skin there!
