Best British Live Act has been dropped from the awards line up at the Brit Awards this year. Instead they are having an award for Most Memorable Performance.

- Who Are You (The Who 1988)

- I Owe You Nothing (Bros 1989)

- Go West (Pet Shop Boys 1994)

- Earth Song (Michael Jackson 1996)

- Who Do You Think You Are (Spice Girls 1997)

- Stayin Alive/How Deep Is Your Love (Bee Gees 1997)

- The Full Montey Melody (Robbie Williams and Tom Jones 1998)

- Angel (Eurythmics 1999)

- Can't Get You Out Of My Head (Kylie Minogue 2002)

- Take Your Mama (Scissor Sisters 2005)

- Gold Digger (Kanye West 2006)

- Live and Let Die (Paul McCartney 2008)

- The Promise (Girls Aloud 2009)

I think it should definatly go to Michael Jackson or Spice Girls, but no doubt all Girls Aloud fans will be voting like mad

What do you think about Live Act going? I think they should have kept it and had both awards

Why get rid of Best Live Act? Surely Take That, Muse or Coldplay were worthy winners this year!

They should have had both awards because there have been some great tours last year.

You mention Michael Jackson, yet it's the Girls Aloud fans you accuse of block voting???

That over-rated idiot has the most sheep like fans in history, always readly proclaim his so-called greatness. His Earth Song performance should win, but the award should go to Jarvis Cocker, for trying to stand up to the ridiculous sod.

But Michael Jackson is, and always will be, known as one of the greatest entertainers in history, regardless of any accusations against him. Thriller, Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal, Black or White, Earth Song, all massively epic music videos. Girls Aloud are massive in the UK and Ireland, but are barely known beyond these shores. However it is the Brit awards, so that shouldn't actually matter I suppose.

However, the award should go to The Spice Girls, purely based on Geri's dress.

I think since it's memorable, not best performance it has to go to Spice Girls or MJ. Both are somewhat iconic of the Brits, Geri's Dress and Jarvis Cockers interruption whilst MJ performed.

Anything else winning, imo would be through fan block voting, although did the Scissor Sisters not have the Muppets on stage with them, so they could snatch it.

I never mentioned any allegations. They're irrelevant to my opinion of the man, his talent and his fans. He always was, and it seems always will be, the most over-rated performer in pop history.

I'm a Take That fan but I will NOT be voting for that! I would have voted for Patience - but the Brits have purely put the Beatles Medley in because Rob is in it and the adore Rob ... they merely tolerate Take That and would prefer them not to turn up. I hope they don't ... they've been insulted too many times by The Brits panel.

Jarvis for the win!

The Spice Girls and Geri with her union jack dress on. Ben Elton was hosting the show. I think they sang "Who do you think you think you are."

What a silly idea this is - why not have the usual category, and this as an extra one?

Also, why isn't the fantastic 15-minute medley Prince performed a few years ago on there? Crazy.

If Girls Aloud win it will be shocking. The Spice Girls was iconic and that image of Geri in the union jack dress went all over the world and is a simple of 90's Britain.

Its the worthy winner.

I think Spice Girls should, of all those performances i can still remember that one (and Geri's performace of Bag it up ).

Really don't think the live act should have went though, i can think of other categories that could have went instead.

Without a seconds thought, it has to be the Spice Girls.

Girls Aloud are not icons, Kanye West is not an icon. Girls Aloud in my opinion were based on the Spice Girls hence they are not original, It wouldnt be right for them to win this award.

I was 11 when the Spice Girls performed WDYTYA, a previously unheard song. The world's press went ballistic for it, they should win.

I've voted on the Brits site for a few categories but not this one. I'll go have another look.

EDIT: How do you vote for this category?

What has being an icon got to do with it?

When voting was open, it asked to vote for your favourite performance. That's all, the one which you liked the most.

If most people liked GA's performance, then so be it.

I think its far more likely that they just didn't win.

On the brits website it said the winner would be invited to collect the award, so IF they won, they would know it. Whoever does win, will know it before it's announced.
