Of late I have been having problems with the remote control when using BBC text. Occasionally when trying to change pages the remote actually changes channels on the box and cancels the text completely. Any other users encountered this problem and found a solutiuon?

I guess the first thing to try is new set of batteries, between removal and replacement press any button for a few seconds to discharge the remote as some people have had issues of remotes still being problematic after a battery change.

Edit : if you edit your double post quick enough you could ask about your BB prob.

I have actually tried discharging the remote already albeit with the existing batteries but I will now try replacing them with new ones. Thanks

Well I changed to new batteries and all was fine for 20mins but the problem has returned. Its not the end of the world but I do use BBC text very often and it can be very frustrating having to reload the text every time it crashes not to mention having to return to the channel I was watching. Any other ideas GC ?

A factory reset would be my next choice. Sound a bit like using a hammer to crack a nut but as I don't have the problems your experiencing it does sound more likely to the a hardware problem and not the broadcast.
You could try disabling the 'mheg test' in the diagnostics secret menu and then re-enabling it first, that way if it works will remove the need to re-input all of your preferences and schedules.

Well GC I tried a factory re-set and yes you guessed it, no change ! I have a Foxy HD (not HDR) upstairs and tomorrow I will try the remote from it to ascertain if the problem lies with the STB or the remote

I have "experienced" the problem you describe, but it was from my own ham-fisted use of the remote . I was using the page up/down rather than the line up/down on the silver wheel. It it possible that your remote is either damaged (eg dog) or has an ingress of biscuit crumbs which are causing the wrong contacts to be made?

The problems I'm having were when using the silver wheel ! I have tried the remote from the HD box (non HDR) and it works faultlessly so the problem definitely lies with my Plus remote.

This really is a long shot. Sometimeback there was a post about using two stb's in the same room and how to set the remotes for each box. Now out of curiosity I wondered whether there were any other hidden treats available, so using different multi-press permutations I happened across pressing ok and the red button together made the pvr button blink. No other combination I've tried gives the same outcome. I wonder if this might be some form of reset for the remote? Wouldn't hurt to try it..

Thanks for all your efforts GC. I tried what you said and so far in the last 20mins or so it seems to have sorted the problem. Fingers crossed and I'll let you know further into the week-end how things are going.

I have seen the same several times.
The first few times I assumed that I had pressed the P button instead of the silver ring.
When it happens I go back into the correct channel & reselect "text" & it usually works.
Irritating but no casualties.

====================
I've resent this 'cos it seems not many have this problem.

germany calling mentioned ingress of biscuit crumbs.
Has anyone dismantled the HDR remote ?
I used to dismantle & clean with meths, the Sky remote.
It used to impove operability for a bit.

This active topic is perhaps the place for me to ask about possible 'Membrane Failure' rates ..
particularly for the Silver curser area.
Because of this 'Phenomena' and 'Trembling Fingers'..
I get wrong number calls from around the world..
as my number has a lot of '4's in it..
I guess the failure rates of the remote have been estimated and wonder if anyone has any idea of what they are..
Ball-park of course..
I would suggest that even if unknown by Joe Public..
it would still be an advisable procedure to always use the 'TXT' facility
in 'EDIT'.. when 'Naming'..
to spread the operational distribution and delay the inevitable..
