Ah the Saturdays bless 'em. They try and be the Today's and the Tomorrow's, but really they just end up being the Yesterdays.

I'm a fan, but I wish they didn't do these kinds of shoots. Only makes them easy targets for criticism.

And this after just last week Mel C criticised girl groups for being too sexual!

, The Saturday's are really cementing their place on my list of bands i don't really like, which is a shame because their music is actually ok.

This is common.

Don't do as well in music and get your kit off. Gotta make a living somehow.

Their last album was a dismal failure and lo and behold the clothes come off! I wish their management would tell them to work on their personalities as opposed to their stripping skills.

It's a shame they've done FHM again...The album is actually quite good, I think. But as some have said, they're desperate to sell albums.

Well I love the saturdays' music but that photoshoot screams tacky and desperate. The picture too of Rochelle holding the magazine is definetly more than a little attention-seeking.

I don't know why their record company don't just put them out of their misery and just drop them.

The Saturday's arent the worst act on Fascination's books. Plus they don't really have anything better at the moment (Girls Aloud on a break, Cheryl's got 4 months until her next single)

why a shoot for FHM.? Surely their reader's aren't their target audience?

Trying to sell more albums. Pixie Lott did the same. Now (allegedly) she's complaining about men wanting pictures taken with her (I'm a Pixie fan btw, not slating her).

That's true. But they're still trying to sell more albums. They are in Bliss Magazine this week apparently, so they're targeting their audience also.

Ok.

They should do interviews with heat and More magazines.

it's less about promotion and more about money

You make very little from being in a group

Using Cheryl Cole as an example (only because I have her figures to hand), she "only" makes £1.5m a year from GA. Now that's a lot, of course, but GA are the biggest girl group in the UK at the moment and have been around 7+ years now with their latest album going double platinum (selling). Yet for her calendar, i.e. 12 pictures, she got £500k. She got another £500k for her L'oreal deal which involved a 30 second advert and photoshoot. She received another £400k for other modelling work.

So that's £1.4m for a couple of photoshoots and a 30 second tv advert vs. £1.5m for a years work rehearsing, dancing, singing, recording, promoting singles, interviews, etc. Relatively speaking the money she gets from GA isn't that much compared to the time and effort she puts in. Her X Factor contract is about £2.5m for example.

Now onto The Saturdays, they are only in their second year and their latest album has just scraped 60k of sales since October. I wouldn't be all too surprised if they haven't got anything from their record company at the moment. Hence, they're doing what they can to earn money

^ that's interesting. Sad though, desperate to make money. And most of what they do looks quite glamorous from the outside. They're obviously really fearing for their career at the moment. I think this is part of the reason that Vanessa is taking part in Popstar to Opera Star soon.

At the end of the day though, they're only trying to save their careers. I hope the sales go up because it's a very good album - I actually like almost all of the songs, and that's pretty rare for me.

I think part of the problem was the release date of FIO and the album, the blame lies with the management. It should have been released around now (I think I've said this a few times, apologies), and although FIO went to number 2 in the charts, it wasn't strong enough to be a lead single. Ego, or Lose Control should have been the lead single.
I love the album, I don't think there is a bad song on there. Like you say, they need to do all the promo they can, given the album sales. I really hope they aren't dropped.

What more can they do really? It's not as if no one knows they're around. The problem is they haven't shown any songs that makes the casual fan want to buy the album. 'Egos' doing pretty well, but it's clearly not a good enough song to sell the album.
